were u inspired by frida kahlo? Very like some of her stuff. She normally holds her husband in her hands and has greenery round her. Its funny, my boyfriend just gave me a book on her for christmas. Its very good, nice to see something like this, do u like Georgia O Keeffe?

Ashleigh that is simply stunning. Really, you never cease to amaze and inspire me with your beautiful, soft artwork. As for the symbolism, well I guess it could be saying that everytime he sees you you give him butterflies??!! I guess he wants to keep you safe the way he is holding you carefully like some precious object, and you look quite content, as the title suggests, to be surrounded by his protection.
It really is a stunning painting.

I notice you put moths in your work quite a bit...what do they mean to you?

this particular series is using the insects which are moths and in this case butterflies to both tie the series together, and also to accentuate the meaning itself. For example, this butterfly is notoriously hard to catch.
