I just imagined they ran into each other in Tokyo at a grocery store. Literally bumped into each other. All of the food Usagi was carrying went all over the place and she cried and Tohru felt like a horrible person and so in apology she made dinner for them. At dinner Usagi and Tohru became fast friends and Mamoru and Kyo were just kinda like "hey. sup. Yep..." they just kind of followed the girls around. Mamoru took them all out for ice cream which Usagi dropped. And cried. I don't think anything supernatural happened while Tohru and Kyo were around, unless this is during Sailor Moon S when the Daimon's are after pure heart crystals, which of course, Tohru would somehow find herself involved.

I dunno. Just something like that. x3
