Description V is for Vulnerable

~~

Your winter break before you moved to a new school went on like nothing you've ever experienced. You went to Tokyo early to check out the area, take a vacation, have fun. What you didn't expect was to meet him. You were walking around the city, hanging out with a couple of girls you met the day before who were vacationing as well as you. 2 sisters and one of their friends.

You hit up the malls, arcades and now you were currently at an ice cream shop. You looked around at the tubs of ice cream inside the dipping cabinets and you furrowed your eyebrows. It wasn't something you were in the mood for so your eyes trailed to a different cabinet where they had ice cream popsicles or sherbert cups.

You went to open the cabinet when someones hand went to grab it at the same time, grabbing your hand accidentally in the process. "Oh, I'm sorry." You muttered and pulled your hand away, looking up to apologize.

Your eyes landed on a boy who seemed about your age with short dark hair and bangs that were swept to the side. His eyes seemed to barely peek out of his hooded lids as he looked at you, causing your cheeks to heat up in embarrassment. "Oh, it's completely fine. What would the pretty lady like?" He seemed to have a smirk on his face but you couldn't help thinking that it was how his face normally fell.

"Eh uh, I was going to grab a papico. Um, a raspberry one." You pointed at the tube of sherbert, pushing up on your tiptoes lightly, moving back and forth as a clear sign of awkwardness for you.

"Good choice. It's one of my favorites." His voice was smooth, sly even. You gave him a small smile and grabbed the papico from his hands but he held onto it for a moment. "What's your name?"

Your hands touched slightly on the popsicle and your eyes gazed into his. "Uh, I'm L/N F/N."

"Hmm, I'm Daishou Suguru." He gave you a small head nod then released the popsicle. And that was how you met him. He was sweet, he even ended up paying for the papico. You ended up seeing him a few more times after that, even hung out with him, laughing and having fun.

It was basically like the movie grease, he was all nice and sweet, fun and caring while you spent some of your vacation together. But now... Now you walked around Nohebi with a scowl on your face every time you saw the captain of your schools volleyball team.

How did the sweetness between the two of you change? Well...

You walked around during your first day of school with a small skip in your step for no reason in particular, it was just a day. Then, to your surprise, Daishou Suguru popped up in your line of view. Naturally, you got excited and decided to go over and say hi. Only, when you got over there, he pretended not to know you and then laughed to friends saying you were probably one of his crazy fans.

Your jaw had dropped and your palms began to feel itchy with the strong urge to slap him. But it was your first day, you shouldn't get into too much trouble... You just looked into his eyes with a slightly disappointed look before shaking your head, clutching your books tight to your chest and walked away.

Guess he's just an ass who might have been hoping to get in your pants. You weren't necessarily upset at him, but more so at yourself for wasting your vacation on him.

So, now that led you to half way through the school year with anger built up towards him. You had conversations, that couldn't be helped since he was your lab partner... but other than that, you kept it at a minimum. You go every once and a while to see the volleyball games, but not to see him. You'd get dragged by some friends you made throughout the school year, saying that you should be involved in some school activities.

You felt conflicted half the time. You had the time of your life when you were with him, your feelings lighting a match that waited to explode. Only when you saw him the next time he smothered it, leaving just embers.

You didn't want to think it, or believe it because it would make you made, but you think that he watches you. You'll catch eyes on you and once you turn, you could swear it was him but like you said... you didn't want to believe it. You don't want to have any embers ignite into flames for someone who just likes to manipulate the people and things around them.

But that didn't stop you from being face to face with the one person you hated but couldn't help like. "Daishou, just, let's finish this. I stayed after so we could do this, you left for volleyball and I've just been waiting. You're lucky I had other work to do." Your voice was a bit rasp, you weren't cheery at all. You just wanted to get this project done and be out of there. Yeah, you had another week to finish the project, but once your done, you don't have to deal with the snake of the school.

"Oh, come on. What's the rush? We've got plenty of time to finish this." He propped himself on his elbow, and peered at you with his hooded eyes.

"Well, I'd like to finish this as soon as we can." You spit out, grabbing your chemistry book from your bag a second time.

"Woowww, why the hostility~?" He smirked, his eyes watching you as they had been since he came in the library.

"I'm just not in the mood to fool around with a hotshot like you. So, how about we stop the chitchat and actually do our work?" Your eyes avoided his, not wanting to look into the soul of the devil and be captured in whatever words he'll end up spinning for you.

"Whatever the princess wants then." Princess?

"Just stop. Stop trying to be so warm to me." You shook your head, focusing your eyes onto an equation. What the hell was he expecting? You to just go along with his stupid manipulative words? "What the hell Daishou?" You lightly slammed your pencil on the table as your voice began to rise.

This caught him off-guard and his demeanor changed as he blinked a few times. "I uh, huh?"

"What's wrong with you? Why are you acting like this? You're warm one second and cold the next? Do you enjoy making fools of other people? Is that what you were trying to do when we first met? Get me to fall for you and then humiliate me? Oh wait! You did." Your face deadpanned as you stared at him with slightly pursed lips.

"Woah, wait, no tha-"

"Oh save it for someone who will keep falling for your tricks. I'm leaving." You packed up your stuff in such a rush that you crushed some papers in your bag but you didn't care. You were out of there before you started crying and then really made a fool of yourself.

"Hold on!" He called after you after the daze he was in wore off. "I thought you said you wanted this project done!"

"I'll just do it myself. That way I don't have to deal with you." You called back and rushed down the stairs. You could hear footsteps following you and you hoped that they would turn down a different hallway or go into a room but they didn't stop until after you did by your locker. Reaching into your locker, you grabbed out your street shoes and placed them on the ground, switching them with the slippers you had for school.

"Listen, I'm sorry." His voice spoke from behind you and you bit your bottom lip, not wanting to turn around.

"Just... You actually really hurt me. You single-handedly crushed my thoughts of you. You acted so sweet... But I shouldn't have let 4 days govern how I began to feel about you, I barely knew you." You shook your head.

"Can I please have a moment to actually explain things to you?" His voice seemed to be pleading with you and you finally turned around and faced the dark haired spiker.

You furrowed your eyebrows slightly as you contemplated letting him talk. You could really only see this going one way, him apologizing and you accepting with a very slim chance of your feelings not coming back full force. You slowly began to nod your head, allowing him to continue with whatever he wanted to say.

"I figured... I figured I'd just enjoy happiness for a bit during winter break then forget about it. I didn't want to be in that position anymore. I didn't want to feel so vulnerable in a relationship again and I knew by the way you acted that you'd make me feel it, without a doubt." He sighed out, grabbing his head with both hands as he paced back and forth, walking towards you then away. "I don't like feeling vulnerable." He got quiet. "My last girlfriend... she was able to open my heart up, but then she left it that way while she was in bed with one of my 'friends'." He made small air quotations. "I was so... enamored with her. She'd unarmored me just to shoot me point blank. I just can't feel vulnerable again."

"I would have been willing to give you strength as well, not just vulnerability." You softly spoke, your eyes trained on the ground. "But, since you're so against it, I'll just leave you alone then." You began to walk away from the lockers but his grip on your wrist made you stop.

"No, no, no. Please, I, don't leave me alone. T-that's the last thing I want." His eyes bore into yours, wider than they normally were so his small orbs shone void of protectiveness. "I admit I was scared when you walked up to me the first day of year 3 and I said some things I really shouldn't have. I'm sorry. Can... can we try this again? Just go back to before the first day of school? Because I can't tell you how badly I wish I didn't say any of that to you." His hand moved from your wrist to your hand with his other hand grabbing your free one.

"Daishou..." Your voice was quiet as you listened to his words, trying to get them passed his bullshit sweet guy barrier and to the him you thought his was before. "How am I supposed to believe that you won't shut me out again the second we leave this area?" There it was. The look on his face was crumbling your built up exterior. No, no, no. You can't be manipulated like this.

"How can I prove it to you? What can I do to gain back your trust?" He plead with his eyes. "Well, that is if you want to trust me again." His voice seemed to break towards the end and he looked as open as a book, completely showing off all the feelings that were deep within him.

Your lips separated slightly as you lost all your composure. Your eyes started to water slightly and you could feel the dam threaten to break. "I... I want to..." Your voice was softening. You closed your eyes and lowered your head a bit as you breathed to regain stability. You began saying something that you didn't think you'd ever say to him. "Just..." You sighed and opened your eyes again, looking at him with a solemn look with a hint of happiness. "Be you with me."

"That, that I can do." His eyes widened slightly as he began to nod his head rapidly. "But, you might want to rethink that after a while." He began to chuckle. "I get quite lovey-dovey."

"Just as long as you're you, I won't mind." You let out a small laugh through your nose and shook your head. The processing machine in your head was on the fritz as it gave up trying to relay common sense. To be fair, the warmth from his hands wasn't giving you the best ability in doing so.

"I um, can I uh..." His words fell short as his gaze dropped to your lips and then back to your eyes.

Your heartbeat was beginning to soar as you took the initiative and stepped forward a bit, your toes close to touching. Everything seemed to slow down as he bent down, landing his lips on yours. The soft texture of them mixed with a little bit of moisture made them glide across your own.

As you figured, the embers that laid dormant began to heat up and ignite and you placed your hands on his shoulder, leaning up to him a bit. It was a short kiss, about 3 seconds long, but it didn't stop your insides from flipping. When you both parted, you didn't move away from each other. You stayed less than an inch apart as your breathing staggered.

His bangs brushed your forehead as you felt his warm breath lingering on your lips. "I've wanted to do that for some time now." He let out a breathy chuckle and his eyes barely opened as he looked into yours.

You couldn't help the giggle that erupted from your throat, your hands moved from the top of his shoulders down to his hands, folding them gently into his. You brought your head down for a moment, looking at your feet then up to his eyes with a wide grin. "Walk me home, Daichou."

"Gladly." He smiled back, but it had a hint of a smirk, adding to his playfulness. "Let's go then." Letting go of one of your hands, he fixed himself side by side with you and you both headed out the school gates.

Bad decision? Who knows. But were you happy? Hell yeah.
