HAPPY SAINT URHO'S DAY!Okay, I realize this is strange unless you live in the state of Minnesota. = v =;;
So, Saint Urho's day (March 16th) is kind of a Finnish-American parody of the Irish's Saint Patrick's day. This day originated somewhere in Minnesota. The legend goes that St. Urho saved the grape crop in old Finland from grasshoppers by saying "Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen!" ("Grasshopper, grasshopper, go from hence to Hell!") This day is celebrated by wearing Royal Purple and Nile Green. (hence the title of the picture)
My mom used to tell me about this holiday when I was little, but I didn't really care about it that much then. (maybe it's cuz I wasn't so obsessed with being part Finnish then. OTL) Hell, I didn't even know there was a town called Finland in Minnesota!! D:< I WANNA LIVE WITH ALL DEM OTHER FINNS!!! OTL
Anyway, I used my two Finnish OC's in this picture. Aren't they adorable?! * 0 * I'm really quite proud of this picture, so show it some love!! > 3 < b
