I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG OKAY and like the rest of the hamilton soundtrack too but like omg this song feels like the combination of the sass from congratulations and the pain from burn

My thoughts while drawing this piece:

Since hearing the hamildrop, I had been meaning to draw SOMETHING regarding it but my first take on it was really dreary and ironically cold. It was an image of Eliza getting drenched in the rain as she held an umbrella over the burning letters. It was supposed to be like a SUPER dramatic dichotomy of how she felt inside (probably wanting to cry) and and the act of burning something in rage but like I wasn't really liking the way that I was drawing it. It was bleak yes - Eliza was already wearing her mourning outfit from the musical and she had a stone cold look on her face but like I felt like it wasn't emotional enough?? it just felt like i said earlier cold

so then I decided to just scrap it and start completely over but then I remembered a stressed base sketch I had done of the back of a lady in pain. When I saw it again after not looking at it for weeks, I was like omg this could work and then this picture was born. I tried to do a no line drawing hah but there are a few lines like for the walls and in Eliza's hair. at first it was just going to be eliza's back and the fire but the top left corner felt really bare? so I added a scene from the song "Helpless" shrouded in the smoke. Maybe there was more than one reason as to why that night was a hot night? Tried to incorporate some of the magic from that night with the little balls of flame around the couple. After I finished drawing that section it reminded me of that really weird song from the Hunchback of Notre Dame lol

in the end, it's a pretty warm looking piece despite how empty and cold Eliza must be feeling during this song... strangely enough I felt like her first solo song "Helpless" was a pretty apt title for this piece since that was probably how she felt during all of this chaos soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that explains the title
