Description How long is this road?

I walk a road with sharp rocks and an ominous breeze
Burnt ashes from fires long forgotten scatter
A flame flickers, then dies once its time falls away
These fires lead a dull life, only giving light to the others
A reflection of the other
But their mirror is caked with dust and it’s hard to see

I was born on this road
With the dying flames my first sight
I felt its dark wind and tears of water
I have had conversations with it and listened to its laments
It has told me truth and the lies of others
Steer clear of others, but interact to an extent
If you never speak to others, you’re truly lost

People have walked this path also
Before me and in the future’s eve
They had and they will keep on coming
Whether they’re aware of it, I don’t know
Do they know that they’re monsters or not?

I have seen shadows fall without a sound
The dirt is a coffin for them temporarily
Their comrades pause to sob for their state of being
Get up, and return to their separate lives
I watch from the side,
Shadows pass by me for I have no meaning to them
I’m just the background in the painting of life

I find a small flower on the road
A single flower, swaying in the wind
It lies in the middle, with its petals strong and free
Crouching in front of it, I feel its strength
The will to survive is strong
But it is all alone, and dew substitutes its tears
Then it is dying, dry, wilted
If flowers could heal, I’d pick as many as I could
Grow over the cracks and bruises of the world to pave a way for redemption
I’d like it and I’d watch

I learn over time
To see who I am and who these others are
But no matter
Myself is not quite important at this time
Learning about others is fun
But it’s hard to understand them if they don’t care
They haven’t noticed me yet
Will they ever?
If not, I’ll just be that girl on the side of the road
Talking to herself and watching life go by

The words finally were uttered
‘It’s time’
The road then crumbled away, and I realized what it was
It was the end;
So I closed my eyes and fell
And I never came back
