Description I was going to put a planet in the background, but I forgot, and now I'm too lazy. Might change it after. yeah.

I've had this idea floating around in my head, for like, a month, and had to draw it. yeah. If you're cultured, you would have read 'I, Robot' and not just watched the movie, to completely and fully understand the three rules of robotics. And...yeah.

Time to gloat about the fact that that I did the entire back ground with a mouse. Every skull was hand crafted--no sissy pencil guidelines--by MEEEEEEEE!!!!! Same with the clouds. *arm falls off*
[/gloat]

Robots are cool.

*points* That kid you see up there! A BOY!!! not a girl! A boy, dammit! *glares at mother*

Done with pencil.
Inked with felt tip pen.
Coloured in photoshop7 with a -mouse-.

I'm currently reading Isaac Asimov's "The Complete Robot" book of short stories. I wish I could draw like this so I might illustrate some of the scenes in my head.

Good work.

I read about the rule of robotics somewhere, but kinda forgot it...
Isn't it about not harming humans? 8D (partially random guess)

This is pretty cool, as I am also a fan of the Apocalyptic-robot, mechanical sort of genre. And this piece does succeed in more ways then it doesn't. The robot's pose is good, and the skull-like face is very well articulated. The color scheme is another success as it really draws out the dark and grimy elements of the piece. There are a couple things, pieces of advice, I would like to add however. The robot is in the dead center of the frame, and that often times makes the pictoral space seem sort of deliberate and stale. You might want to try a composition involving the rule of thirds. Also, if the robot's arm is like that, I do believe the boy's leg would not be able to fit in the crux without being broken. Perhaps it could have been foreshortened, or simply placed at a different angle, these are all things to consider. also, I see the other leg, but not the other robot arm, meaning there is nothing to support that leg the way it is. It's really ok, I can't think of anyone who can whip out a complex pose such as this from their head. You've done a fairly decent job, but it could benefit greatly from reference, and from treading the picture as a 3 dimensional space. Finally the skulls in the background. I think their perspective is a bit confusing, and to be honest their just sort-of throw away. they are blurry and I believe they are the wrong size.

Once again these are all simply things to consider. this piece succeeds for the most part, and is overall quite strong, and for that reason, I'll fav.

Anyway. God I love this image. It's incredible! The detail and color and just the picture in general are amazing!

Definitely an emotive piece if you're an IA fan. It made my +favs. Why? It brings forth images of the disaster of a robot / human war and that this might be one of the last children left... The robot, bound by the spirit of the three laws (not the interpretation), is carrying him away from the carnage of the war, to safety. The robot is doing this despite the fact that it was almost certainly other humans who damaged him so. A great piece. Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Azimov's Robot storys. THis picture really reminds me of 'Robbie', a lovely story, one of my faves. I've always wanted to read 'I, Robot', but I don't have the book... I think... I have read the Bicentennial Man though, it's also one of my fave films...
Oh-well, I'm going to shut up now. *adds to faves*

hey! fantastic...!!!! I do like robots! jejej and I just watched the movie, but I had a great moment, maybe IΒ΄ll read the book someday. Actually I like that kind of movies where there is a relationship between programmed instructions and consciousness. I dunno if you watched Animatrix if not I suggest you do, I like "The Second Renaissance" part, and the B166ER robot and how the robots developed their own society. maybe that will happen some day in the nearly future... we are at the very beginning.....

You must also watch "Gosht in the Shell" the first and the 2nd movie...youΒ΄ll like it!
Really great pic! that goes directly to my favs.
Have a nice day!

This is dark and depressing...I LIKE!

I find that I always fav these type of end-of-the-world images. This gives me even more reason to love 'em. It's dark, but holds a sense of hope.
All in all...I see real emotion behind this work.

Yeah, robots rock. Pity the three laws are either too nebulous to program in (what exacxtly is the definition of 'harming a human'?) or are being ignored entirely (like the current crop of attack drones and prototype battlefield robots). Old Isaac would be spinning in his grave right about now...

Wow, this is superb! I'm surprised this hasn't become a Daily Deviation yet...

Now, I haven't read 'I, Robot', or seen the movie as of yet, but I have heard about the three rules... And that was the first thing to pop into my mind when I saw this. A great work, once again.

(Ironically enough, I didn't think about the kid as a girl, until I've read your comment telling me not to )
