This is my OTP.

It's an interesting, yet tragic love story. After a seven year sleep, Link warps into the temple of time to meet this, mysterious, handsome Sheikah. The two cross paths for Sheik to teach Link new songs again, but they cannot remain together for long. At their final encounter, Link's true love was revealed to be....no more than an illusion. The love of Link's life is no more than an illusion.

How do we know Ruto lied?

Ruto's good at sensing things, true, but there's no real evidence that she knew all along that Sheik and Zelda were one in the same. She knew Link was on a quest, because that was easy to sense. But to see past the power of Nayru, the very Goddess of Wisdom? Not so much.
