Here, have a crappy starter.~
It was midnight. The girl had been walking for a while, like she usually did, but now she was physically exhausted. Sitting down under a tall tree, Joni put her sketch book in her lap. Closing her eyes, she was only planning to sit for a few minutes. Instead, she started to dream about her father, as she had been for every night the past few weeks. It was the same thing, a kid version of her, watching her dad laughing with his mother, then him scooping her smaller self up in a loving embrace. It wasn't a bad dream, but it brought memories of her missing parent back.

the young duchess sat on a bench in the village outside her home
she watched the stars after having to deal with four complaints of
a creature causing mayhem for the people of the village for the past
month. all cases reporting horrible nightmares and sleep paralysis and
being exhausted. At first she thought it was just regular night terrors
until she noticed they all had similar cases. she sat on the bench that
night in the village in disguise to see if she noticed any strange activity
since it had been a week since the last report. Though she was just a
lone young lady she still felt the need to look out for the villagers.

Vance lurked around the village rather casually. He was a pretty confident guy after all, so it's not like he was the type to be sneaky about this. After all, if things didn't work out here there were hundreds of other places he could go to for his meal tonight. He glanced up at the starry sky, grinning rather maliciously to himself as he took in the sight. Turning the corner, he noticed that someone was sitting alone on one if the benches. He was a little surprised to see someone out so late, but he still kept his cool demeanor. Stuffing his hands into his pockets and whistling quietly to himself, he was practically prancing at this point. He was just in such a good mood! Heck, he even waved as he past the stranger sitting on the bench. What did they have to be suspicious of him? Well maybe there's the fact that he looked like a tall spooky demon! He couldn't care less, though.

Linnia watched as the stranger past and waved back a little then
stopped mid way. why was she waving back? That man very well
could be up to no good! But wait... she was out here. why should she
suspect him of any thing. She shook her head to calm her nerves and stood
up "sir stop right there" she said in her most commanding voice which might
of worked if her voice didn't crack mid way through.. oh well. She walked
up to the stranger and put her hands on her hips only now getting a good
look at the guy. His appearance at first scared but she pushed her fear back.
She was here to help protect the village. She was the ruling authority over
them and she took responsibility when she had to. Linnia took a deep breath
and then spoke "sir may I inquire why you are out so late? Curfew has passed
and anyone outside can be subject to the disciplinary actions of the law." she
tried to sound scary but when your a person made of strawberries and whip
cream scary can be difficult. She looked up into the mans face and gave him
a stern look "well sir may I also have your name? I need to make sure I have
all villagers accounted for." she puffed up her little pink chest stared him
right in the eyes waiting for a reply.

He was taken back a bit that the person actually waved in return, undoubtedly even more when she spoke out and approached him. He folded his arms across his chest, keeping his confident stature as he turned to face her. "Well I, uh..." Getting a closer look at her girly pink skin certainly amused him. Vance had to hold back any laughter from how ridiculous he thought she looked puffing out her chest when it was pretty clear to him who was the more intimidating one here. "Pff, my deepest apologies little miss! But my name's Vance, and I certainly am not one of the villagers here. In fact, I'm just innocently passing through!" He let his arms fall back down to his sides, one of his hands reaching up to run his fingers through his own ghostly hair. "So, just what sort of 'disciplinary actions' do you plan to take? Are you even prepared to take any?" The same malicious smile he had earlier broke out onto his face, staring down on her.

She instantly changed attitude being that she was very trusting
and believed his story. "oh well then I'm sorry to have not trusted
you Mr. Vance. My name is Linnia. I'm am the current duchess of this
area. This village has been reporting night terrors once a week and
it just so happens that tonight should be the night of the next attack."
she said with a smile. "if your just passing through I recommend leaving
this village I wouldn't wish these terrors on anyone. oh! also do you have
a place to stay, I believe you but the curfew still applies and you need to
be in a home in the next twenty minutes before my guards and the police
start taking any stragglers to the manor dungeon for the night." At that she
began walking away but then turned back "if you need anything I will be in
the manor over there just tell the guards you have permission from the duchess
they'll let right on in." she then turned back and headed on her way figuring the
local authorities could protect the village for the night.
