but you can try to practice in MC(microsoft) paint. cause first years i did use it, and then slowly learned to make the shaders other collor too, to make it fit to the background. if you dont know how, tell i will do a picture with some random character or something, and shade it that way. and for me you can find out amazing collors with it.
