It wasn’t long before he caught sight of him. Deep red feathers complimented by the rich green of the grass. Even the sound of the rushing river was enough to turn Reef’s stomach into a mountain of knots. Upon reaching the bridge they stopped. Diana broke from the group and continued toward the quill.

Reef couldn’t hear much of the conversation. Picking up a “Aww, did I hurt your little friend’s feelings? Too bad.” here and a “I don’t give a flick about your stupid treasure hunt” there. The entire time, Reef was on edge. He felt sick. Any moment he was expecting the quill to lash out with flames... or worse. Yet it never came. Diana simply made her way back, a little annoyed sure but unharmed. “He’s burned the clues.” She muttered, her tail lashing behind her in frustration. Just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse... “But, he did say that Noctus might be able to help.” Oh thank goodness. Any excuse to talk to Noctus again was a good one in Reef’s book. Sure, he seemed a little nervous and talked himself down a lot of the time but he was also pretty nice. Besides, Reef was glad just to be away from the red quill.
