Many reasons, but the biggest is possibly because of its complete lack of creativity/originality. This is why FoxyxToyChica is just as bad, if not worse. Let me explain:
Foxy was the odd one out of the group, the loner, and so people unconsciously want to show him more love because of this, making him everyones favourite (I'm also guilty of this). So, simply because shipping exists, Mr. FavFox needed a mate. And since Chica was the only girl at the time, so they just "HAD" to ship him with her automatically! No more thought was put into it! They're not even a god match, and THAT can be considered canon.

Since they're being shipped, then they NEED to be looked at in an Alternate Universe-type way, seeing as they need to be able to feel affections and be sentient. Chica would be the type of person to be repulsed by the type of person Foxy would be, and if they were to meet on the street, they would have a small yelling fit at eachother and move on.

I hate to break it to
you, but these ships will never ever EVER
become canon, so it's futile to try to call them canon.
They're killer animatronics for god's sake! The
only shipping that exists is from Alternate Universes,
which, I might add, can be different from canon
and everyone else's AUs.
I shipped Foxy with Golden Freddy at one point. I
could've just as easily shipped that, but then I thought
Foxy and Chica would be cuter together. Personal
preference, but I don't like most of the Bonica
or Foxica or Fredica art out there. I think Chica
is treated as a helpless idiot, and I don't see her
like that at all.

My point is: Don't make generalizations. Yes, some
people did what you said, but not all of us. Please
don't categorize me with that group of people, I am
NOT like that at all.
Everyone is entitled to their own shippings. It's unfair to bash
someone just because you don't like what they ship. I'm not a fan
of a lot of ships, but I don't hate on them. It's rude and immature
to lash out at someone for having an opinion.
No, I'm not hating on Bonnica, I just don't ship it. I don't
care if you do, but when you start to interfere with other peoples'
AUs and hate on their ships, is where I get involved. ))
