Oh dear god,Overwatch characters have loads of tiny details in them.

I'm not even sure if I drew them all right on this guy...but this is my first attempt.
And I'm pretty happy at ho it tuned out for the most part.
I don't really have the game yet since I'm not familiar with the FPS genre of games,
but this guy and Junkrat have really cool designs.
So I wanted to try and draw one of them.

That's the only real interaction with the game/characters I got so,

Actually... Allot of people will hate me for this. but if you've never played an FPS, then I would suggest trying 'Team fortress 2' first. It's basically overwatch but with less broken characters, a welcoming fanbase and it's completely free.

so I know what classes there might be.
I'll see if my step dad has a copy of it for console.

I must say, even though the characters are mostly for playing and less for Story, the TF2 cast has so many lovable representations from different artists. I'd love to see what your favourite class becomes, and maybe even you'll draw them somewhen ^.^

If it's by personality from what I've seen online...
Heavy and the Engineer are probably my favorites.
I love Engineer's calm demeanor and southern accent.
While Heavy's thick Russian accent and wacky personality is hilarious.

hehehe XD HeavyXMedic is really common yeah. So is SpyxSniper, SoldierxDemoman and PyroXEngie.
My Ex used to main Engie, and I was his Pyro ^///^ It was so fun being a Pybro, I wish I could do it again someday.
(Pybro : term used by long-time players who main a pyro and have a habit of sticking around an Engineer. They protect the Engineer and his machines from spies and rockets. Pybros and their Engie's are very close allot of the time and are almost always in vocal contact with eachother over Skype or some other calling program to make their Duo twice as aware and effective.)
But Heavy is so sweet, imagine Medic making Heavy Sandviches XD

So I'm guessing the main pairings in this fanbase is based off how well they work off eachother in the actual game huh?

shipping's can happen between any character whatsoever XD though it's most of the time between two characters that work either perfectly together (EngieXPyro or MedicXHeavy.) or absolutely counter and HATE eachother (SniperXSpy ect)
And yeah, the fandom and the game is huuuge, you'll have lots and lots to learn, but don't be scared of it ^.^ if there's anything you don't understand then just ask me or another player for some answers ^w^ we don't bite.
For example, every character is a different nationality ^.^ German(Medic), American(Soldier), English(Scout), French(Spy), Russian(Heavy), Scott(Demoman), Aussie/Australian(Sniper), Texan(Engie)Β and Pyro...nobody knows about Pyro XD

oh! well, there are nine classes (well duh Carrie you've said that before.) yes, uh yes, continuing.
Each class excels in different gameplay types. though there are THREE main types.
Defensive, Aggressive, and neutral.
Defensives are MOSTLY best for, obviously, defence. they stick to the backlines and tend to not rush into a situation. these include demoman, a master of traps and long distance exploding. Heavy, a tank of sorts with high HP and allot of ammo for rounding off into enemies and the Engineer who is constantly creating machines to aid his team such as teleworkers to move slower characters quicker, dispensers to give health and ammo and most importantly sentries. Large metal gun turrets that level up the more you hit them with a wrench lol.
Aggressive are mostly used for, obviously, attacking. they are in the front lines and are great at being the main attack force of a team. These include a Pyro, splash-damage pro who is an expert at sweeping low HP enemies and ratting out hidden Spies. the scout, a quick-footed double-jumper who is the first to fight, and often the first to die too. And finally the Soldier, a rocket-jumping missile shooter who damages lots of people at once with his explosive rockets and is good for getting rid of sentries.
and lastly Nautral, or 'support' if you prefer. these characters can be either side of the battle and are not necessary but can REALLY turn the tides on a fight if they're used right. these require a little more skill to pull off. the Neutrals are Spies, masters of deception and blending into the enemy lines, backstabbing for one-hit KO's but very weak in defence. Snipers, who benefit from a steady aim and confidence. And of course, Medics, Who's entire job is to KEEP as MANY of their teammates alive, though have a habit of sticking to one person every now and then to push the line forward.
Even though these are the types? any character can be used offensively or defensively if you just use them right.
Which as of so far do you think you'll be taking to? Or just tell me your play-style and I will suggest a class for you to try out ^.^

Well if I'm going by what I do in regular RPG's,
I tend to be a person who likes to have lots of firepower and speed on me
so that I can get the opponent as low on heath as they can,
while also giving status effects to stop a foe and keep them still.
Kinda like Paralysis/burn/poison in Pokemon essentially.
Though whenever I try to be lightning fast...
my reflexes usually aren't in tune with my head.
So maybe a defensive/slower class would be better for a beginner so that I can get used to the controls a bit better?

Well he's not the quickest in the game, but you my friend sound like a Pyro. Decent base health and your starter weapon is a standard flamethrower, inflicts burn and is decently strong. Secondary isss uh, some sort of pistol I think, and third will be a melee weapon (I can't remember the basics since mine are to edited with new weapons nowadays.)
Left click to use the flames, but you can also right click to blast a huge amount of air from the gun. Air blasting can put out your teammates if they get set on fire by an enemy pyro. it can also knock back enemies and REFLECT enemy rockets.
I would suggest you become a Pyro ^.^
The best Advice I can give you for now bro, is to get the game and play it. there's no better teacher than experience from the game itself. It's free to download on Steam
