Description I've seen many many digitigrade legs/fursuits, some have looked amazing but all too often I see people suffering from the same problem; incorrect padding. So I decided to show you a breakdown of how my digi-legs in my WindWolf fursuit work.

Be aware though that this isn't the definitive way to make digi-legs though as there are many other ways that can work well, this is just the method I have been taught and the method that I have seen good results from.  I hope this little spur-of-the-moment tutorial can be helpful to you in making your own fursuit!

Im trying to make pair of digitigrade legs myself, but I always have one question. How good are you able to walk/ bend your legs??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AspenWynd In reply to 8-BitFox [2016-09-13 15:31:51 +0000 UTC]

It's actually very easy to walk and bend, I can even get on my hands and knees with my digi padding. Since it's foam it bends with your legs.

So they stick with static cling? Sorta confused. Do u have the fursuit on and then place the foam pieces inside and they just stay there?

AspenWynd In reply to xXFierceheartXx [2016-03-27 17:11:00 +0000 UTC]

I'm not really sure how to explain it better, the padding pieces just stay where they go. I put them into the suit first and then I put the suit on and because the suit was made to accommodate digi padding and because of the static cling they stay in place without ever needing to be sewn in, which is good for washing.

do you put a suit like a ski suit or something underneath?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AspenWynd In reply to Scardee-Cat [2015-04-16 17:36:07 +0000 UTC]

I like to wear some leggings and a sportshirt underneath, but nothing is sewn in so that all the padding is removable.

ah Thank you
I've been trying for ages a way to make good digitgrade suits, my "Padding" are little pillows heh
maybe I should try adding pockets

I have a suiting up video that (kinda) shows how the padding in my suit works a little morewww.youtube.com/watch?v=opJ-LW… " .link<="" a="">

I need to make a digitgrade explanation video at some point.

And pockets are always helpful to have in your suit.

eep I've seen too many suits with the "wrong" version
Or with the top portion of foam a huge lump that sticks out way too much...

CricketDeer [2015-01-25 02:04:07 +0000 UTC]

What method do you use for sewing the legs so that the fabric is shaped so neatly around the padding?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AspenWynd In reply to CricketDeer [2015-01-25 02:22:06 +0000 UTC]

I just sew it loosely by hand and then run it through the sewing machine. The real trick to making it fit is making the pattern with the padding taped onto the duct tape dummy.

Cool! Since I'm not a furry I probably won't be making or buying a fursuit, but this is very clever and interesting! So nice job, we need you as the head fursuit engineer.

Personally I think your suit would look better with butt padding. Even real wolf's and dogs have a little roundness. Yours has this odd flatness to me.

I've seen people like beast cub and sharpie add butt padding on realistic suits.

AspenWynd In reply to December-suits [2015-01-24 23:36:56 +0000 UTC]

I've done butt padding on a suit before but for the effect I'm going for it wouldn't work for me, I'm going for a more anthro look more than feral. That and it's not very comfortable.

Also my suit is a bit loose on me but with a tighter fit like in this suit which is built exactly the same, the effect is much better.
