Description Zupaysaurus rougieri: finished piece.
The newly described Late Triassic theropod from Argentina. The male is parading in front of the female.
The body is based on Dilophosaurus; the difference of crest shape between the male and the female is speculative.

I love the little "spine-diddy's" on his neck (If there's a real name for them, please tell meh).
You know, I'm reminded of T. Marshall's work. Mine are sort of based off of his work too (with the exception of Owen)!
Good rendition, nice detail! You know more about dinosaur anatomy than me.

Thanks for both favourites.
That's scutes on its back. Yeah, a bit marshall-ish. But an artist has many influences.
About anatomy: just observation of muscular reconstructions, how professional paleoartists work, and many doodles.
Never too late to start!

I suppose the male is the big-crested one, right?
I like the dinosaurs rendition, but also the plants in the picture. I should personally pay more attention to my backgrounds, maybe I should study Mesozoic plants too, not only the dinosaurs...
An animal outside his enviroment is a lost one... Yours look totally at home!

Oh I still have so much to learn...

Yup, the male has the big crest, based on the remains.
For the plants, Irene, search for Dicroidium, Ginkgoales, basal conifers and it'll give you something like this. Much speculative BTW: I don't have access to the plant remains from the dig site.
That's just I happen to be quite good in botany.

Thanks for your kind words and the favourite.
Well, only the skull is known. The complete beast is based on relative species in this case.

Yeah, it looks a bit like the Dilophosaurus, in the body structure anyway, I think you mentioned that in your description. Still, great job
