Description All Right first off this is a little different from my normal work. Some time back I ran across [link] pineappletree’s mass effect wallpapers that are just a character and a memorable quote from them. I realized that is the simple sort of thing I like to use as wallpaper and I figured I’d give a try with some of my favorite film characters. It’s also an excuse to continue to fiddle with my art manipulation program that I’m still learning to use. So in addition to my normal demotivational style posters you can expect a few of these to pop up from time to time.

So the above is a pic from “The Devils Carnival” the man and quote in the pick is The Devil himself. I have weird relationship musicals. I love the idea of telling a story threw music, but sadly most musicals just don’t deal with subjects that interest me. Thank God (or maybe Satan) for Terrance Zdunich first he gives me “REPO The Genetic Opera” and now we have the ongoing “The Devils Carnival”.

The film is a demonic retelling of three classic Aesop's Fables. Our three recently dead main characters are put threw the Devils Carnival with it set up to entice them all into giving into they’re flaws and perishing. The film never directly says what happens to those who fall into the traps but its implied that they are damned to hell and all that. The film ends with Satan being struck by inspiration and decides to declare war on heaven by offering salvation threw his twisted teachings. Meaning he would be sending unworthy souls to heaven in order to corrupt it from within.

I think musicals are one of the most subjective forms of film in existence because peoples taste in movies varies and peoples taste in music doubly so. That said the only notable flaw I see in the film is that it has a 2 songs that are early in the film that are pretty bad in my opinion. I’m referring to the tracks “The Devil’s Carnival” and “Kiss the Girls” granted both of these songs are supposed to be chaotic and rough as if performed by a bunch of untrained circus demons but I think they nailed that trait too well. On the bright side both are early in the film and followed by great numbers such as “Tale for a Penny” and My favorite “Grace for Sale”. In case you’re curious as to why “Grace for Sale” is my favorite I thinks it’s because of its tone it’s done in the style of an over enthusiastic preacher's sermon.

So if you have an interest in unusual musicals or just the macabre then check out “The Devil’s Carnival” and now would be a good time since the trailer for the sequel just came out a week or so ago.

I like that song too. Having read Blake, heard of Dante, and seen other "Devil's crew" members, I'm on board for this mission.

[link] Read this. I'm a romantic, and also, as of last Tuesday, a Graverobber fan.

I'm more of a Devil's Carnival fan, but I'm no stranger to rock opera. Of course, the only rock operas I've heard of are in languages other than English, German mostly.

As of right now Repo is my favorite because its a complete story. Devils Carnival is an on going story so, until I see the rest of it I'm reluctant to call it my favorite but its already close to being my favorite all it needs is to have the next film show me that they know where they're taking this awesome concept and it will be my favorite.

Yes. Need to see the series as a whole for the whole effect, a bit like Dante's Divine Comedy. Speaking of which, I just started reading the first part, "Inferno", before watching Devil's Carnival this evening.
