Just a bit of a concept sketch, practising some design features and possibilities, while sticking to Mermay.

Riding out this month's motivation to stick with mermaids, sirens, seaponies, the likes that'd count.

Initially wanted to look into morphing an existing character into a more anatomical design, taking more reference from real world animals. But I decided wanting to instead experiment more first, without committing to a specific character.

Also, wanted to approach it in a "concept artist" way, alltho I kinda veered of that the moment I started clean lines...

I just started wanting to play around with this type of sketch/line shading. I haven't sat down that often to really get into depth on this visual aesthetic. It's one that's not too uncommon, so I've seen it enough to want to try it. It also does simply employ some logic that's not just limited to this method. The dark outline of the shadows for example. I find it a pleasant aesthetic.

I kept going, because for once I didn't feel like I was struggling without progress doing my poses without any reference. Surprised myself they kinda worked out.

Anyhow, I could've gone and made these specifically Sirens (hint, hint, Equestria Girls lol), and maybe I should've. But here we are having to deal with my darn choices.

Approx Time: ~5,5 hours total combined.
