Description I keep getting disappointed whenever I compare my katana renders to real photos. So this is yet another attempt. I plan to try and spend some time with it to make it look nice.
I think my blade and Ito materials still need work.

Oops... ignore my last comment. But this is still awesome. I thought this was really a real sword!

Not at all. I'd be honoured if someone other than myself used my work as a wallpaper. Thanks!

The tsuba is a nice touch. I find it adds a little modernity to a beautiful classical weapon (i.e. the turbine-like design).

Very nice!

It may not be photorealistically-perfect, but damn if it isn't awesome anyway. I love all the little attention to details, such as the handle wrap, the accents on the tsuba and the reflection on the blade.

However, a suggestion: the blade is way too thin when compared to the katana I own, and could afford to be about twice as thick. Of course, you can ignore this comment if we're looking at the sharp side of the blade

We are looking at the sharp side in this pic. When I finish it, I will make a few angles so ppl can see it from all sides. I think I have it 5mm total thickness right now.

What "accents on the tsuba"? The tsuba is just the outer ring, the 'turbine'-like interior spokes, and the center cylinder. In front of the tsuba is the seppa, or spacer (used to prevent damage to the tsuba from the sheath when sheathing). If you don't mean one of those, I'd like to know what you are seeing.

Thanks for the!

It's the seppa I was referring to Afraid my knowledge of the terminology isn't quite what it used to be lol.

Hehe. That's ok, I obsess over swords so I actually looked up all the terms. I will confess that I did not remember that one too well and I had to look it up in my model tho.

It's looking very nice!

Nice touch adding the deviding line where the two metals meet...the toughened cutting edge and flexable backbone.

I'm sure you'll get it to the level you feel happy with

I know how you feel though...on certain levels I'm a perfectionist. Usually, if I can't get something perfectly the way I want it, I generally end up dropping it all together
