A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED Activators Starscream downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link]

A last minute addition, but an awesome job I think. Originally I had Windsweeper as a legends Starscream repaint, but as I did Crankcase and then Ruckus as activators, I knew I had to make Windsweeper one too. I think he came out really well. IMO, he might be the best looking of the trio, and closest to his original. Again, I think I used a little more paint then the original (mostly to make the guns silver) but it’s all right. Whatever it takes to make these simplistic molds something usable. As a bonus, since this became the new Windsweeper, I’m going to add the now rejected legends version to my scraps.

Scrapped legends version HERE: [link]

Artwork is © Hasbro, only edited and colored by me (and halfassed at that) in plain ol' MS paint. Do not edit, re-use, or re-color.

Sweet repaint, Assey. So totally fits the mold and is such a great idea for a repaint idea. The '87-'89 Bot's and 'Cons don't get much love nowadays (well, aside from Crankcase and Getaway) and it's great to see the Triggercons again. The color distribution looks kinda off for some reason, tho'. Probably due to the G1 version's arms and legs being bigger/thicker. Meh. Still looks great to me!

BTW, Would he be available as a single figure or as part of a Triggercon three-pack alongside Ruckus and Crankcase in an Assey-Mart near me?

I know, while i started colecting tf's from the very start, i was only 4 then, so my recolection of those guys isn't as good as the ones I had when i was 7-10. I think i remember the later g1 tf's much more fondly, as far as having the actual toys goes. My opinions have all changed drasticly now, but i still have those old memories.

As for his arms and legs, yeah i'm not completely happy with how they turned out. Just a bit to different from the originals for my tastes, but the mold's color distributon can only do so much, and without wanting to cover it in more paint then is realisticly possible, thats what i was stuck with. The vehicle mode came out really well, and the bot mode was close enough to still be a recognizable homage so i just settled for it.

And as for distribution, they would be single packed, just like the current activators out there.

For some reason, I keep forgetting that you're a bit younger than I am. So it kinda makes sense that you'd remember the (as you said) later G1 characters a bit better than the first waves of toys.

The color distribution you've done here is a nice compromise and works, that's what counts in the end.

i still remember and dig all the 1984 tf's i got, and some of them are still my favorites, like mirage, wheeljack and thundercracker, but i was still just 4 then.

Yeah, I wish Wheeljack could have been part of the reissues from the past years. Or at the very least, a Universe 2.0 character. But, apparently if/when it does start up again after the movie, we'd be getting a voyager Rhinox and IIRC Jazz as some of the first figs. Hopefully, 3.0 will have Wheeljack in there somewhere as well as a retooled Inferno as Grapple.

IIRC jazz? What is that? not sure i heard about that one...i did hear about the rhinox though...not so thrilled about that. He is one of my favorite bw chars, but the other 2 TFU beasts have been...i dunno...wierd for me. They're better toys, but i think i actually prefer the originals. And a new wheeljack would be awesome, but i would even settle for a slight repaint of energon downshift as wheeljack or even a repainted cybertron one.

IIRC Jazz = I think that Jazz was mentioned as a part of the very short list of characters they wanted in the first or second wave of TFU 3.0 deluxes. As for the two BW characters they've done so far, well I'm looking into importing Dinobot. I've seen the toy in person and while I think it's an improvement over the original mold, the colors just kill it. Makes for a perfect "evil" Dinobot, tho'.

And I've dug out my Energon Downshift to display alongside my TFU Autobots in the meantime. Can't have Ratchet w/o Wheeljack.
