If I had to guess the amount of time that went into this piece, from the initial pencil drawing until the final save in Photoshop, I'd have to guess that it was very near 25 hours.Between Photoshop crashing constantly, and my tablet hardly usable due to incompatibility issues with my new OS, I have to wonder if I truly love torturing myself... or why I bother doing anything digital when I'm clearly more suited to traditional media...
With all that aside, I am rather fond of this piece... It's a bit dark (so turn up your monitors/download the file for best viewing?), and the contrast doesn't show up as well here as it does in my art programs, but I enjoy it..

Ace Combat music definitely seems to have had an impact on this drawing... i love how Aster ends up going beyond the background slightly with a wing. i love it when that sorta thing is done well. i can't give you any insight that you don't already know considering 25 hours, but i can tell you this is absolutely stunning... the clouds are so ... you know what they are. i just...

Wonderful work, Aster. Being a bit more tame with the colours works out well for this picture. It's so soft and looks almost dreamy. Amazing work with those clouds as well, they are not easy to get right at all.

I definitely spent most of my time on those clouds... blocking in the colors, painting the shapes, feathering them all out.... ugh. xD I worried that after all that work, people would just think I manip'ed an actual photo ;_;
I'm glad I got that soft, dreamy sort of feel to show through, though. That makes me feel like this was a successful image.
