I honestly suggest getting white face paint, for the whole (remembering to apply more than one layer) and some black for the eyes. Although, for the eyes, start with black eyeliner, then with a brush apply the paint, and perhaps refine the whole with a little black powder (still on the eye area).
The mouth, particularly the scars, I'd buy those fake stick-ons you can buy from a costume shop (they're fairly cheap, last time I checked) and working them to look like his scars. Apply lipstick (though perhaps red facepaint would be best). Make sure to paint the scars too!
Mixing a little black with the red will give a darker red (for dried blood on the cuts). Shade varies by how much black there is.
I'm a fan of cinema, so I make sure to always watch all the specials on the DVDs. Special effects (which include makeup) are my favourite part!

I'm actually a film student, but I was into this kind of stuff way before that. But yeah, I don't like it when you buy a DVD and all you get is the one disc with the film on it, and there are NO special features (other than like, trailers and director's commentary). D:
