It all started a few nights ago when i had a dream where I was playing chess with a cute, sad elephant...i have really awesome+weird dreams lately
Then I just started seeing those images on my way to work. At work, I sketched it with a really bad ballpoint pen and loved the idea...So today I made it happen. Mostly done with colored pencils, and the background is done with pastels.

Hehe, I really like the soft coloring and child-like feel to this. Reminds me of those colourful illustrations in childrens' books I read really long time ago.. whatever happened to them? A lot of people seem to be caught in the whirlpool of anime, realism, 3-d digital art and whathaveyou, that this kind of work seem to be getting kind of rare (to me, that is.. ) .
I also like the use of different textures. They seem to complement with each other, giving a nice blended look and more "life". The use of light, soft shadows is also a nice touch, because it doesn't add a certain harshness some shadows can give.
Keep up the good work.. and don't stop dreaming!
