Description Parocnus browni was a small species of ground sloth that lived during the Pleistocene until the Holocene in what we call Cuba.

★ TAXONOMÍA y EVOLUCIÓN★

Parocnus contains 3 recognized species. I'm unsure of the relations between the three, as I couldnt find any relevant sources on the matter. Per Presslee et al. 2019, it seems that the members of Parocnus were most cloesly related to the smaller Neocnus sloths. It belongs to the Caribbean Ground Sloth family, Megalocnidae.

The closest living relatives to P. browni are the Three-toed Bradypus sloths.

★ DESCRIPTION AND BIOLOGY★
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any official size measurements for this sloth. It seems to be an intermediate between the larger P. serus and P. dominicanus, though I'm not 100% sure of that observation. It is separated by various skeletal differences from the other two species, as noted in McAfee et al. 2021.

They had pretty interesting dentition, with rodent-like incisorform teeth on both mandibles.

As a sloth, it was definitely herbivorous, gorging on delectable insular vegatation, like seeds, nuts, leaves, and fruit! No specific dietary analyses have been done as far as I know.

★ WHY I PORTRAYED IT THIS WAY★
Improvised coloration; pose inspired from tamanduas. I feel that it'd be a small, brown, forest-dwelling animal that'd benefit from sporting a dark-colored body.
