Oh, I've seen the stock photo before! This is such a beautiful rendition of it. Nice job
I love how the cat's fur appears so soft, but its gaze is very focused and intense. The glass-like sharpness of the reflection is also very well-done.

Claybord and Pastelbord are my newest discoveries for oils recently, absolutely great stuff. Using egg tempera on them as underpainting for oils creates amazing effects (when using oils in glazing layers). Love these surfaces.

thankyou. I like working on claybord, excellent for detail, I had to get used to the absorbency. I tried egg tempera years ago but it ended up cracking, I did something wrong. I love Andrew Wyeths work and would like to have another attempt at tempera. I noticed that it is sold in tubes so I wouldn't have to mix it up myself. Must try pastelbord, I love new toys. I have ordered some scratchboard that should be interesting too. Love a new challenge.

I discovered scratchbord in 2011 and I believe I am still one of very few people (if not the only) in Poland knowing exactly what it is and being able to create it. It's wonderful but too expensive still to me and won't be available in Poland any time soon, too much unknown.
I too like new art toys
As for egg tempera - surface is important www.eggtempera.com/technical-i… Smooth, absorbent and rigid. It will crack if used on paper. I use Daler Rowney real egg tempera, quite expensive but worth every money. I haven't used it alone, though, only as underpainting for oils.

thanks, after I read the critique I agreed with some of the comments and did some adjustments. The reference had area's ( side of cat) that were out of focus but that didn't work in the painting. I really like painting cats and am lucky enough that people like them. There seems to be a lot of cat lovers out there.
