I don't think I've ever read any of the Stargate comics but I've read a few Star Wars ones. My favorite is the Thrawn Trilogy adaptation you mentioned. I have read the books first and thought they did a really good job fitting the plot of the first novel into just three volumes. Pity they never did the other two books.
The artist, Olivier Vatine, is one of my favorites, too. Probably why my art style reminded you a bit of his. He's been an inspiration for me. The guy can draw simply everyting superbly... People, animals, technology, nature, you name it. Sometimes I look at his stuff for motivation.

I haven't done any Stargate art lately because I'm in Marvel fandom right now, but you never know... I'm too busy for fanart atm but I hope to have lots of time in the summer.

Kinda steampunk? I like all of the scaffolding and balloons and jazz.

Also, John's face... Exceptionally nice to look at. Hee.

I love this so much, the detail astounds me and you always get the characters spot-on.
When you say that you copy the lineart onto the watercolour paper, do you mean that you re-draw it, or do you have some other means of printing/transferring the ink?

I use an actual copier. For smaller formats I can use my own Laser printer, for larger pages I go to the xerox place. I used to re-draw my sketches by hand over a light box but nowadays I do that only when it's inevitable.

One time I met a painter who told me he even feeds canvas into his printer to transfer his sketches. Gotta love technology.

Ah, suddenly I understand one of life's great mysteries; how artists stop their lines from dripping away. Thanks for the info, I can't wait to try this!

They look happy...But I can't help but look at the very rickety looking ledge like thing that they're siting on and with their luck it'll probably brake and send them plummeting to the bottom of that revene!!! Lol!! Sorry...

I absolutely love your work. I've just always had more respect for traditional artists. So many artist use Photoshop and other computer programs now days. It's not that I don't like the work done by people using photoshop. They have amazing talent too, but it's wonderful to see someone who still does it the old fashioned way! Anyway, I love this pic!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

John has such a calm expression.

A rare moment of piece... (I actually couldn't find any suitable screen caps that showed a peaceful, relaxed Sheppard.)

If you're interested, telesilla over on LiveJournal wrote a really cool comment ficlet to go with this picture.
