Description
Welp, is back to writing UDA, so I guess I might as well edgic this one too XD
Winner:
Jarred: Well, even if it's an edgic failure, I have nothing against Jarred winning. From the beginning he's always been a character I liked. He and Rich ended up making the other develop; he helped Rich grow a spine, and Rich helped him grow a heart, so to speak. Like I said with Rich, his development helps him to become a great winner.
Eliminated:
Steven: Thank GOD! The way I felt about Steven is the same way Norissa felt about Steven: He's overpowered, he's full of himself, and he makes no sense. He even ripped off a joke from Kyle this episode. So glad he's the first boot, because I'm not sure how much more of him I could take.
Xavier: I thought I was going to like Xavier, but I was promptly proven wrong when he turned out to be a jerk*ss to everyone who wasn't LaBelle or Giselle. Him rescuing Maggie reminded me of Mal rescuing Zoey: he only did it to save face so he wouldn't get targeted. Plus, he told people to go to hell. He just might be my least favorite of the cast right now. Anyway, glad he's gone.
Dewey: Well now, don't I feel stupid XD. Four straight episodes of Dewey as top contender and not once did I think he might be a fakeout. Okay, maybe once or twice, but still. I was kind of indifferent to Dewey to be honest. He's not funny like Douglas or Amanda, self-righteous like Aubrey or Boe, or even really that complex like Victor. I don't think I'll miss him too much, but he did keep the legacy alive... or not, whatevs.
Norissa: Wow, two contender boots in a row. Apparently Norissa wasn't supposed to be as well-received as she was, which I find kind of funny. But I personally liked her. She was a stratbot without being N-toned, or unlikable. She had actual depth to her, which I really liked. It's a shame to see her go so early, but then, I didn't expect any of these boots to go so early. Almost makes me wonder which of my contenders will be the next to go XD.
Buster: I dunno, I kinda liked Buster. He got a lot of comparisons to Bobby, which I guess I could kind of see, but Buster was a bit more level-headed than Bobby was, which I appreciated. I did expect him to go farther, and even considered making him a contender at one point, but alas, it could not be so.
Giselle: I'm not sure how I feel about Giselle. In fact, a lot of her morality was left ambiguous thanks to the language barrier. Did she really like Rich, or was she just using him? Did she really trust LaBelle, or did she not know better? I suppose we'll never know the answers to those questions.
Macy: And there's my other longtime top contender gone. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Macy, but she had the makings of an endgamer, so I'm a bit shocked to see her leave seventh. Perhaps parrot knew people were tired of "hiders" and figured he'd cut her early. Not sure what this means for Jodi in Switcheroni. We'll just have to wait and see.
Leroy: Not really shocked that he's gone so early tbh. As far as fail villains go, there are much better ones, even among parrot's lineup. He might have gotten a laugh or two out of me at some point, but overall he seemed like kind of a waste of space. I didn't hate him, but I certainly won't miss him.
Amanda: Aw, Amanda was a cutie pie. Granted, she had no chance of winning, but she was a fan character to have around. She was just so random and ditzy that you can't not love her. She was so adorable trying to strategize to take Adam out. She will definitely be missed.
Maggie: Lol. She had escaped elimination so many times I was afraid she may end up winning. Wouldn't that be a trip? Anyway, she definitely had some funny moments, and I think she brought something special to UDA. Shame to see her go.
Kendell: Oh, Kendall. She started out cool, but as time went on, her edit went flatter and flatter and she just became kind of annoying. She's like Misha minus any of the charm. Not disappointed to see her go, even though she was a contender in the last episode.
Kevin: Kevin was a cool character, I think. Almost consistently positive, but forced to stay in the background due to his ninja code. And of course, he had to struggle with trying (and failing) to stay silent. Plus, he's a ninja, and ninjas are inherently awesome.
Aubrey: Talk about a designated hero. Basically her entire thing was that Boe kept picking on her. She was a satellite character. And yeah, Boe bullied her and everything, and I get she might be mad, but being a jerk back certainly wasn't proving that Boe was wrong about her being kind of a brat. Idk, glad she's gone.
Todd: Eh, he was alright. Half the time I thought he was hilarious, half the time I thought he was annoying. One thing that was near consistent was that he was irrelevant, so I'm not too sad to see him go tbh.
Adam: And I was just going to make him a contender until this episode happened XD. Anyway, Adam was a pretty interesting character. Starting out, he didn't care at all about winning. By the end of his game, that's all he cared about. He was pretty cool, and I could see him returning for a potential All-Stars season.
Boe: Her little tirade towards everyone at the end pretty much cemented her as one of my favorites this season. She was such a trainwreck. It was great. <3
Douglas: He was a fun little character. He did start to get irrelevant near the end, but he did have his funny moments throughout the season. Though I can't help but wonder how the season would have been different had he and Buster not swapped places.
Mona: Mona was... there. I think she serves as a testament to avoiding having characters go far simply because they're cute, because cute is very subjective. I personally didn't think she was all that cute. Either way, she left at the best possible time considering how far she did make it, so I can't complain.
Judie: I personally don't see her as the main villain. Sure, she was arrogant, but so are a lot of others in the fic. Plus, it's kinda hard to have a main villain when half your cast is villainous. As for Judie herself, I was never a huge fan, so I'm glad to see her go.
Rich: Ah, the main protagonist. Rich was a very fun character, starting out as timid and weak, but many events throughout the story shaped his development into a stronger, more capable kid, but not getting rid of his positive traits either. Rich was a good character, and he left at a good time.
Victor: Honestly there isn't much I can say about him. The only time I can remember where he affected the plot was backstabbing Rich. Other than that he was kind of a satellite character for Boe and Adam. I'd say he got what was coming to him.
Yvonne: So Yvonne's Russian, apparently. All this time I thought she was German. Anyway, she was an interesting character and a good foil to Jarred and Judie, combining the best traits of both to create an immunity machine. Of course, that's why she could never win; she was too big a threat. She was fun while she lasted, but her time is up.
LaBelle: Aaaaand, joining Roquette in the ranks of female, redheaded girls with hats and French names who get second place in Uber seasons... okay, joking aside, LaBelle was amazing. In a season that focused so much on strategy, her absolute chaos and disregard for anything strategically logical was just great. She will be remembered.
