Description This is my FIRST realism sketch after 2 years (I think??) of not drawing any portraits at all!! Completed just now.

Yesh, I'm sure you have seen this pose somewhere in the magazines before... it's the Redken female model!! And obviously she doesn't look like that because I've screwed up her face...!!!

I know I got proportion problem... >__< Ouughhh, must improve!! Practice more!

Hope you dun mind the weird white horizontal line at the paper... it was original done in A3 and uh.. as you know I had to scan 2 parts of it in an A4sized scanner.

Anyways, about the hair, it takes practice. I hate shading really LONG hair though. Cuz you always have to stretch your pencil strokes longer and it's gotta be perfect or else it would suck. T__T

And re hair: you notice that there aren't too many portraits of girls in my gallery? *That's* the reason why I don't draw more of them.

I used 2B pencil all the way. And my 2B pencil oso became so blunt till I had to sharpen it few times... then it become shorter and shorter pulak!!

Yeah, you are right about the Redken girl pic. YAHH. ANDA MEMANG PANDAI PUN!!! She memang got oren+merah hair. I think she's VERY pretty and it's a good photograph. One of my favs actually.

2B pencil onli ar! I thot u guys need to use much softer pencils than 2B for sketches. Last time during my archi-graphics class, I think I heard my lecturer said.. "apa ni, sketch guna 2B aje. go and buy 8B pencil laaa. darker one. can produce more soft strokes." and guess what, i check out the local artshop, they only have untill 6B. @wO;; siao la mana lecturer ni dapat 8B punya pencil!!! T____T

soft pencils do tends to tumpul easily with pressure. Pakai-pakai sampai kontot and then simpan buat collection. Pencil 4H all still panjang-panjang lagi. All B series kontot macam hobbit je. OoO

Hahaha. Ayez, if they really make cartoon about you ah, sure kelakar one. Ketawa sampai bontot terpecah!

Anyways, yah, your lecturer is right. It's more advisable to use several types of pencils for shading rather than just 1. But I lazy so I use 2B oni. I oso got kena tegur by another lecturer for using 1 pencil oni what. Haha.

8B pencil you takleh dapat ke?? Ada satu kedai kat Sunway (behind my college, near Pyramid) called Vision Art. All the art stuff you can dapat there.

Just curious, you guys have to build up a house model or something like that for your assignments oso right??
