reminds me of splitting split ends when I was very sad sometimes... and doodling the same branching pattern again again in chemistry class years ago

When considdering the vertical shading lines, the pose and the nature of this image, it reminds me heavilly of Francis Bacon's famous Pope series.

Anyway, it was unintentional. I started this as a portrait of an old lady, but grew increasingly unsatisfied with how her face was turning out, so I scribbled on top of it and... well, liked it better that way

Francis Bacon is one of my favorite artists. He's rather important for pushing the envelope on shocking expressive art through the 20th century. So yes, its a good thing.
And you've ended up with an amazing artwork, after the disatisfaction and the scribbling so it all worked out in the end!
