Personally, after seeing the some of the promo art, I was looking forward to an episode where exorcists and demons alike donned their yukata for a night at the matsuri. (It doesn't look like it's going to happen but given the plot now, anything can happen.)

I think you are talking either about the black tiny totoro or the soot balls from Spirited Away. These guys are Coal Tar which are weak demons. I don't think there is any merchandise for them-- though I did make my own coal tar keychain with clay.
