Very nice play on timing. The sunset, the silhouette of the surfer. Also the placement of the surfer on the far right of the frame of the photo. Ahh, tis just very nice overall

time really does stand still up there....yet it goes way too fast, if you know what i mean........ it is glorious..... 
hopeully you can link up with a local who knows where all the hidden entrances to the best beaches are too.....
(they are usually just between two houses!!!)

Just think the surfer could be more to the left, for more lighting on him. but thats just me

I think I like this better of the two.
You have a great composition here and the light of the setting sun is incredible. What bothers me a little though, is the darkness of the right part of the shot... the surfer doesn't stand out as much as I'd wish.

and yes.. i've been a bit slow uploading of late....
and i'm only taking pics in short bursts as well too.....I'ill get back into it soon...more so as the days get longer....(we're in winter at the moment... so the light has almost gone by 5pm...... that's why i love the warmer months, when we have soft light until around 8pm....it gives you a chance to finish work and then go wandering with the camera)....
Nice to talk to you again.... and don't be too hard on yourself... your work is impressive.....but i understand totally... i'm NEVER happy with any of my shots... never.... but i guess that's what drives us to constantly strive to improve...

hmmm i am thinking about being happy with our own shots.... i think we should be happy sometimes as well. specialy when you get a confirmation from competitions and so on... that is the best thing in my photography. when i get the news that i won something...i am the happiest in the world.

you see...the first day in town (broke as a traveller is....i decided to walk all the way to that distant background you see in your picture.....
set up my tent...then hike back into town to check it out.... and of course ---> drink the night away (as you do in BYRON BAY 
so after a great night......i decided to stumble off to my beloved tent
and apparently the tide comes up....really really high 
I slept on the sand...and woke up to be eaten by sand fleas
Ahahha....what a night it was though!!!!!

culled from 300+ to 100 but am now above 200 again....
i took a 5 day break up north last weekend which was truly lovely where i watched these beautiful sunsets, and wildlife and whales, etc........
but the catching up... OMG...
