Description So this is a tutorial that I wrote quite a while ago but thought it might be appreciated here as well!

I have lost the original file due to a harddrive crash, therefore this is a copy of the version I have up at Elfwood. The links in this one don't work and I apologise for that. They do work in the original issue so if you want to try those, go here or simply retype them.

All artwork in this tutorial is my own and if not up here you can find it up on my elfwood page.

Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Nice tutorial! This is a basic philosophy of Celtic Knots 101, and nicely done.

Glad it was useful to you. I'm convinced everyone has to find their own way to do knots, and this is mine. It is always nice when you can share things one enjoys

Hm, how do you go about maintaining a uniform width? Do you just eyeball it? Or do you actually measure it? I suppose this would also vary on the type of paper you are using, white or gritted.

AtarAtis In reply to lerosenoir [2008-08-18 15:14:15 +0000 UTC]

I eyeball it. I do that with the whole thing and I believe it leaves you a sense of freedom but also a more creative feel to the final image. Of course it is easier on a grid and it will definitely help you increase your feeling for it!
Let me know if you make anything, would love to see it!

Nice tutorial! I love that there are different approaches to doing knotwork. I didn't really catch on until I had studied several different ones and found what worked for me.

thanks! This is one of the few things that came natural to me and discovered it before I found there was a name to it It was quite interesting to research it a bit more myself...

Thakyou! I tried to split it up clearly so if you dolt feel like history and things you can skip straight to the knots
Have fun!

it definitely will...I always get distracted by celtic design whilst reading Barry Windsor-Smith comics, I'm always like, "How did he make those intricate designs?!" Now maybe I can make some of my own...
