This is really awesome. The rounded shapes and the contrast of the shadowed and bright areas work perfectly together.

Thanks! No I wasn't really inspired by Orientalist paintings on purpose but maybe subconscious?

Interesting illustration. It has an epicness without the typical brutal action epic pictures have these days. Is it linked to ATOL somehow, or does it show another world? Does it belong to a written story you are also working on, or is it "just" its own story?
I like the architecture and trees, they look so classical, as well as the chosen colors and lighting.
What about the man who is steering the boat to the left? To me it seems like the other "boat drivers" wear the same uniforms, while he has a leather vest and rather rough hairdo. Just for variation, or is he a special character? (If yes, this seems strange to me, since he is very cropped ). Or do the boat drivers switch in each part of the city?
I'm also wondering why the city is parted by a wall (or walls) at all, can you tell more about this? What is that building to the left, does it have a special function?

No it's not linked to ATOL or anything else, just a painting on its own. I totally let the beackround story of this piece open to viwers, I didn't have a greater story in mind.

I love that kind of images especially because you can observe all many different people what they are doing and their expressions, wonderful!

Thanks! Yeah I tried to bring in more believable characters into this scene than I do on usual concept art.

Your scenery works and stunning, both in setting up the composition and mood.

Thank you! Yes I spent a lot of time on this, can't tell how much exactly.
