A friend requested me to draw the sumi-e style. But since I didn't have the brushes and stuff, I mimicked the style in pencil.

This is so beautiful! I love the effects of the pencil! You got the sumi-e style brilliantly, it looks like it was actually done with the brushes. XD I love the simplicity of this, it makes it so calming to look at. <3

Aww, bless you! I used some once, but it was with dodgy ink on dodgy paper, so the outcome wasn't brilliant. Either who, it was really fun to try. I only did calligraphy, though, but meh. xD You should try it!

Pencil~ ^^ Just plain old regular pencil.
Then I darkened it slightly on photoshop cause the scanner made the lines lighter. x3

Hmm. I'm not usually good at this type of thing. Usually, something comes to me, and then I want to write. Not the other way around. So, if I have any inspirational ideas, I'll tell you. But for now, hmm, this may be hard to draw since its not really visible but . . . the wind? Or maybe the wind blowing leaves?
OOOOH. Or maybe you could illustrate the scene from "The Road Not Taken."

That's really fun. (sorry this is slow to respond, I'm rather behind). You really mimicked the style well, with heavy "ink" lines and varying "ink washes." The simplicity of the drawing really heightens each stroke.

The smears by the tail make the hummingbird look like it's really in flight, nice job!
It would have also looked nice if you added a couple smears on the back part of the bird, to enhance the flight effect (but I may just be rambling). Anyway, very lovely picture Nomi. Hummingbirds are one of my favorites!
