Description 18" x 24" Oil

This is a little commision work, I don't take this type of thing on, unless I get pretty free rein. In the olden days I did a ton of pet portraits in pastel. I had to adhere to request that were maddening, gah, glad those days are over.

That's fabulous, I never could get the hang of oil on canvas. Nice work.

You seem to really have captured the soul of the hounds in their eyes -- not an easy feat, but you never surprise me in what you can create. Does your Dad still have any of his work?

From the title and what I have seen of your work thus far, I was expecting something more apocalyptic, but as the title says, black dogs, looking black and doggish – two ticks in the box there.
Here is a deal for you to mull over - Proposal - you do a nude of yourself and I will do one of me self and then we can dev um – say medium pencil and or ink with or without colour.

Picture to be abstracted or surreal-lised, or symbolic, no straight up realism, or porn, just the naked, form reflecting the naked soul or the other way round.

Just going out on a crazy whim here , let me know what ya tink

Is this a double dog dare? Okay. I am game, though it may take me a few weeks to pull it off, LOL, like my armor.

Actually I have done this already, but it will be my birthday, so to honor my soul return I will do another.

Not having used oils i would feel a little silly critiquing you...but....I like this a good deal...the only thing that appears, on a PC, to be a bit off,is the strength of the white along the muzzle of the lower of the two dogs, right side of the picture...it is glaring on my monitor and pull my eyes towards it....other than that i thnk it just, lovely...I especially like the blue....

I didnt know you worked in pastels as well, or have forgotten it if I did (same thing to me)

Have you any posted, or would you? I love my pastels above any other medium...

John

Thanks, your critique is fine, the dog does seem a bit wonky. I have not picked up pastels in probably 15 years or so. My father was a master with them. If I ever do any again I will post, maybe

I am no master, and can find none to apprentice to! but I keep scrubbing the paper with them, I improve, so I am content with that...thank you for sharing that, have you any of your fathers work to show?
