*****************************************

Wednesdays are hard for me. My beloved Kikyo died on a Wednesday nine weeks ago today. I have been feeling quite sad and have not been able to create any personal art since she died, and, knowing I must move on, I thought if I pushed myself to do a little digital sketch of the lovely character I named my own sweet baby girl after, perhaps it might help.

You know, I think it did.

Priestess Kikyo, tho she died, was never forgotten and always loved by InuYasha, and my girl, tho she is no longer physically with me, will always live in my heart.

(Now if only I had her bones and a little graveyard soil... ha ha)

Done directly on the computer with Photoshop CS3, no presketch. Not sure of the time; a couple of hours on and off.

It's a beautiful tribute to a character that deserves far more love than most people know! I too, cried (a lot) when she died. She was InuYasha's True Love, and my heart broke for both of them that day. If only they had been able to purify the Jewel together without Naraku's interference that first day so long ago...

Awww I agree completely! I cried when she died too. I think she and Inu are the ones who should be together 100%!!

We are of the same heart on that one, no doubt! The anime version of her passing was SO HARD to watch, and yet so sweet....Wah....I'm all choked up again....

Sorry to hear you are still so heartbroken. It's tough losing a loved one. I hope you feel better eventually, even if it is a tiny bit.

It has gotten slightly better, but it's still hard; tomorrow will be exactly 3 months. I can't stop from tearing up when it crosses my mind, and if I think about her with any purpose I start really crying. At least I can look at photos now without breaking down. I can talk about her briefly without totally loosing it. But if I talk about it too long I start tearing up (like I am now)

I guess the more time that passes, the more the pain will go and the memories will heal, not hurt

Awww. I'm sorry (hug). It does get better but I don't think it ever goes away. My last dog passed away about 6 years ago after I had her for 11+ years. I still cry once and a while to this day. Her name was Holly and whenever Christmas comes around and I see hollys everywhere it really makes me sad. I even have holly dishes and mugs just to remember her because I'm paranoid I'll forget her. I hope you have lots of pictures of your kitty cattus! Those are my most treasured items now.

Awww I'm sorry about your poor Holly. I'm glad you had 11 years with her; that's a great amount of time to take a lot of photos and build a lot of memories. My baby was only a year and a half old when she died, but I'd had her since she was 2 weeks old and since she and her siblings (we saved a litter of 4, 2 girls, 2 boys) were my husband and my first pets together (we've been married 17 years and never had a pet!) trust me, being Proud New Parents, we took lots of pics of her in that short amount of time *grin* If you ever have a spare couple of hours where you're not doing anything, feel free to check out my Photobucket site [link] with its thousands of photos of my four babies. They really are my treasured items now, too.

After 17 years you guys really went all out in getting pets. lol Did they destroy your house? I have one and she shredded the couches and the blinds. I can't imagine having that many!

WOW! you have lots of photos!! That's really great. I actually only have 3 pictures of Holly. I didn't' have a camera.

I will take a more in depth look at all your kitty pictures later today. Kikyo was soooo pretty. I love all the little kitty noses, especially the pink ones.

When we got them in '06, Brian said he was getting me a cat for every 4 years I had to be without one ^____^ I loved our Kitty Herd. It seems a bit weird to go to the bathroom now with only three of them all around me. Brian's actually talked about getting another baby so we can have 4 again! A baby girl. Then the herd can even back out to 2 boys / 2 girls. Yeah, I have a lot of pics. The ones that are there aren't even the half of it. I am not a photographer and when I got my digital camera (a few years ago I got a Cannon G5) I did a bit of research on "how to take a good photo" and one of the bits of advice was, "When photographing animals, take a lot of photos because only 1 of 10 will turn out." LOL how right that advice was. So I take a ton of pics, and what's up there are only the 'good' ones of the lot. My KiKi was the most beautiful cat I've ever seen. All my babies are cute but she was flat out gorgeous. She always took a good pic and seemed to "pose" for the camera, too. The other ones never hold still, or blink, or yawn, or jump, etc. LOL KiKi would just strike a pose and hold it. I loved her for that, good girl. I'm sorry you only have 3 pics of your Holly... are they anywhere I can see them? Are they in your gallery?

I have to take nearly 25 of my dogs since they never sit still. Probably close to 15 of kitty. They hear the camera and run Kikyo did look like she was modeling. She must have loved the camera. I bet they miss Kikyo. It's really hard on the pets too. Do you think your cats would get along with a new cat?

This is Holly. [link] (I hope that worked, if not she's in scraps) I just have 3 little pictures and one is crumpled. I might scan them one day when I can. My scanner isn't set up at the moment. She was a little 40lb German Shepherd/ Collie mixed. She was badly beaten and extremely thin. I got her from the SPCA and she was soooo skiddish. Took me a few months to gain her trust but she turned out to be my best dog ever. I'd like to think she was naturally sweet but I'm not sure if it was beaten into her. I picked her because she looked ugly and I know the cute dogs will get homes easily. I like to pick ugly animals for that reason. Well they aren't ugly to me. . but maybe to others. Skinny, scabbed, badly behaved, skiddish, bug ridden, matted hair etc. . . that's the pet for me! hehe My cat is a biter and a bit evil. A sweet little old lady originally had her who was an absolute cat lover but just couldn't keep her because she was so bad so I brought her home so she wouldn't be put to sleep. All my pets have behaviour problems

Hope you are doing better, and its doing the trick.

Beautiful tribute to the best female character ever...I love the soft, slightly sad expression--it's so her.

I'm glad to know that someone else was as cut up as I was!! I was literally in shock when it happened...I was sure, until up to the very end, that *something* would intervene. I miss her *sniffle*...I'm hoping just a bit that she comes back again, but that would cheapen her last moments in the manga.

Aww, thank you for your awesome comment. I actually wasn't upset because the character Kikyo died, I was very upset when my CAT Kikyo died a few weeks ago... this tribute is actually to her. But you're right, it was not fair and very shocking when Kikyo the character died, that's for sure!

^__~ If I thought it would bring her back, I'd go all Pet Cemetery or, in this case, just like how they brought Kikyo back, a little bones and graveyard soil... Nah. You're right. She's with me always. I have one of her whiskers taped to the fridge. I touch it all the time and talk to it o___O (she's talking to whiskers, kids!) Let's hope Brian doesn't ever die... I'll have to tell visitors, "NO DON'T OPEN THAT CLOSET!" ....ha ha ha
