Just an Alien race species idea i had while listening to FTL's soundtrack.

This little guys are millenium old stone-like creatures who are like parasites but on a planetary scale. They will suck the atmosphere out of those by burning out it's gases and oxygen.
In-game they are capable of draining rooms out of oxygen. However, they are ones who need oxygen to burn as well and thus... as the supplies run out they will grow weaker and weaker. If they can't make their way to another room in time their flames will die off, harden and become statues that occupy space. As soon as enough oxygen fills the room they will reignite and start wrecking havoc again. They also have a bonus in that their attacks might put ships on fire so watch out!
