Description Suggs.

I already drew a realistic portrait of him, but wanted to draw him in a more semi-realistic semi-my style. For those who don't know, Graham "Suggs" McPherson is the singer and frontman of Madness, an English ska group most prominent in the early 80s. I was a big fan of them 2 years ago.

I was inspired to draw him how he was in the episode in the Young Ones, called Boring, featuring the band playing House of Fun.

This time I added a sort of background to a sketch without colouring it to make it more interesting. Unfortunately my scanner is down right now. I had to take a photo of both this and the portrait... hope the quality is all right.

Lol, thanks! I love Madness myself! Suggs is so cool... I just had to draw him in this scene from the Young Ones which is another definite favourite of mine... and when the 2 come together... huzzah! It's funny to come across someone who loves Neil the most. Any reason you do?? I think Rick and Vyvyan are the most popular characters from that comedy, but I remind myself the most of Neil actually. XD We have the same hair, we're the best students, and have to do all the cooking and washing up. I can definitely relate to the poor guy. Also, thanks so much for commenting on my art.

Uhh...I love Neil because he's so suffering, and I think he's the funniest, but in a more subtle way. Also, you have hardly any competition from fangirls . Vyvyan reminds me of me, I used to have Neil's hair, but it's curly now. Actually, have you ever seen Bad News Tour? Den (also Nigel Planer) reminds me of me. Same hair, same attitude. Kinda. (Only I reckon I'm slightly more intelligent.) I know how you feel when TYO and Madness come together. I also was "Hippie for a day" last tuesday, A totally weird experience. I like comments

I miss watching the young ones... they were the best! I haven't seen the show in a while, unfortunately. But I still listen to Madness often. What are your favourite songs/albums?

Pretty much "Our House" and "House of Fun". I like groups more like The Human League and Heaven 17, but as far as ska goes, English Beat's my favorite.

The quality is really not bad for a photo! I know Suggs and Madness; I like their music, and I also listen to Virgin Radio a lot where Suggs DJs in the early afternoons of weekdays and on Friday and Saturday nights, so I know he's a man with a sense of humour.

Anyway! I very much like the funky bg here with the bubbles; appropriate to Madness I think! The folds on his clothes are also particularly good and correct in most places.

[link] If you click on the big listen live box at the top of the page, you can listen online. That's what I always do anyway, as the reception here is so bad. Suggs usually DJs in the weekday afternoons and 6-10 on Friday and Saturday evenings. I think he might be on holiday at the moment, though.

I did once. Usually I'm too excited about the foreground being finished so I send it straight to digital colouring.
