I have always had a problem with the way Stargate SG1 portrayed the Prometheus as a fully realized combat vessel that was supposed to utilize Goa'uld technology. It seemed to have had no Goa'uld tech at all as it was fully integrated without issue (yes, I am aware how the Prometheus ties into the the X-301 project, and its teething issues, but this was a full warship and building a full warship is totally different than building a fighter...). Add to the fact that the ship was built in secret (?!)... How many people must have been involved in that???
Regardless, the point I am trying to make here is that there should have been a much smaller craft and would have most likely been built off world, with the help of the Jaffa, in the form of engineers, scientists, and bodies to manufacture.

The X-300 Proteus is a 58m long vessel that would have been the true prototype full sized vessel that would have run concurrently with the X-301, and built with the aid of a team of Jaffa engineers. This proved to strengthen the bonds between us and them.

Due to the X-300's small size, the vessel was able to be fitted with a cloak that was graciously provided by the Tok'Ra.
