To my regular watchers, this has nothing to do with Transformers or Marvel, at all!

While I did not grow watching Robotech, I did regularly binge-watch all 85 episodes of the original series online throughout my senior year in high school, which led me growing a big love to the series as I'm currently reading the Jack McKinney novels and watching the franchise's original source material, Super Dimension Fortress Macross and its related series. In spite of a few issues, I still enjoy the constant action and drama that characters have to do regularly go through during times of conflict, so I've had this idea for a while. This is the official start of what I call Robotech Odyssey--a modernized re-imagining and reboot of the 1985 hit anime TV series that'll use elements from across the franchise, whether it's from the original series, the movie, novels, comics, RPG books, and sequel series, to properly develop a vastly different yet similar universe.

Space.

The Final Frontier.

A place filled with an innumerable amount of stars and planets.

A place filled with many unknown mysteries.

Mankind once dreamed about going into outer space. Mankind once sought to reach out towards the stars and settle on different planets in different star systems across the galaxy. Mankind wondered if there was life outside Earth's solar system.

That answer finally would come on July 17th, 1999 A.D., when military surveillance satellites and space stations from nine different countries detected a strange interdimensional anomaly that appeared in orbit of the Moon. This was followed by the appearance of an object of great mass that was now on a collision course straight towards Earth. Amidst a dispute between nations who advocated to destroy the object by nuclear attack and nations advocating no attack, the unidentified flying object, codenamed "The Visitor," entered the planet's atmosphere in immense speed. During its uncontrolled fall from the sky, the UFO produced shockwaves of incredible force, causing massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, ecological scarring, and abnormal weather patterns throughout the globe. It finally crashed on a remote island in the South Pacific called Macross Island, a former French nuclear weapons testing site at the the southernmost tip of the Ogasawara Islands above the Tropic of Cancer.

When "The Visitor" arrived, the nations of Earth was still going through the struggles of the Cold War, which witnessed several proxy wars and escalating between the two major superpowers: the democratic Western Bloc headed by the United States of America and the Eastern Bloc led by the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China, which was based on communism and totalitarianism. It also marked a technological "space race" like nothing seen before as construction of spaceships and space stations designed for war began, which persisted even as Ronald Reagan completed his two terms as U.S. President and Mikhail Gorbachev's political and economic reforms led the Soviet Union's eventual dissolution. As "The Visitor" crash-landed on the planet and its impact inadvertently caused worldwide devastation, millions grew fearful it was some new weapon by their enemies or perhaps even, the wrath of God. The great form of "The Visitor" dwarfed even some of the largest cities, and it was clear that whatever it was, it was not the work of man.

Then came the realization that the unidentified flying object was neither weapons nor the divine, but a lone traveler from across the stars. Upon investigations on its crash-site at Macross Island by the United Nations, "The Visitor" was revealed to be a gigantic alien space battlefortress that would be designated Alien Starship One (ASS-1), and it was found heavily damaged and inoperable, but many of the ship's sophisticated techno-systems were left surprisingly intact and repairable. Further research revealed that the technology that drove this ship far surpassed mankind's own. While no traces of any crewmembers were found onboard the ASS-1, the battlefortress' very existence was clear proof that not only intelligence life existed outside our solar system, but it had the stars its battlefield as it was equipped with weapons that are almost powerful enough to destroy an entire planet. Humanity, fearing that a large-scale alien invasion will be more destructive than any war that we've gone through, banded together to form the first centralized world government under the banner of the United Nations and began an ambitious project to see the ship examined, studied, and restored.

However, the task of building a world government was by no means an easy one. Various small nations, especially those who were aligned to the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War, began to form loose alliances in order to resist the UN's influence into foreign politics, wishing to retain their countries' sovereignty and use the ASS-1's technology to expand their respective spheres of influence. Soon, at the dawn of the new millennium, pockets of intense and armed resistance erupted across the face of the globe. In spite of all this, restoration of the alien spacecraft progressed steadily, with the world's most brightest minds overseeing the project. Deciphering parts of documents found within the ASS-1's computer systems, they labored to unravel the secrets of an incredibly complex alien technology called "Robotech" (short for "Robotechnology"). Robotechnology development led to technological advances that pushed human civilization by at least a hundred years ahead of its time. When the long and bloody Unification Wars was finally at an end, mankind had finally achieved prosperity at the beginning of the 21st century, being able to enjoy peace for the first time since the end of the 20th century.

With the world finally at peace, the United Nations Government established a specialized force within their unified military forces that would be known as the Robotech Defense Force (RDF), which was tasked to serve as Earth's first and last line of defense in the face of intergalactic war.

Soon, the RDF's vanguard would come in the form of the first generation of space battleships built thanks to the advances of Robotechnology. Among those ships was the ASS-1, now reborn as the Super Dimensional Fortress-1 (SDF-1) Macross, one of the largest space battleships in human history.

It is now the year 2009 A.D.

It has been ten years since the SDF-1 fell to Earth, and soon, things will never be same again.
