Description Couple of my fave characters; Major Doctor Ghastly and Hoss Delgado matching wits

...this could take a while folks...

Drawn for my own amusement, these last few days have been pretty rough on me.

Major Doctor Ghastly is from Evil Con Carne (a tragically cut short Maxwell Atoms cartoon)

Hoss Delgado is from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (like I had to tell you that!)

And what do you know! It's a wallpaper sized image

I wish more Evil Con Carne characters (besides Skarr) had a more prominent role in Billy and Mandy.

Ok..ya want to know how Hoss lost his hand.. Ok....Seems someone took the term.. Talk To The Hand a little too seriously....So some went up and talked to the hand and said.. Yp Hand Dude.. why ya attached to Eye patch dude.. He don't seem too smart...This caused The Hand to think...And The Hand came to the conclusion.. Holy SMOKE...I,m on BUB.. the guy from DAY OF THE DEAD.. Only this guys bummer ...So the Hand called a doctor..Gut himself remover for Hoss...Last I heard he graduated Yale and lives in Brazil....

what's funny is that Hoss is a direct Wilma Flintstone parody because, in one episode when she had her hair down and styled that way, the writers themselves brought light to this. It's funny.

Evil Con Carne >>> Billy & Mandy

Seriously, the one with the brain-dead boy, the hope-dead girl, and the all-dead Reaper gets picked over Hector, Skarr and Ghastly? LAME!

Jupiter9099 In reply to Maetch [2015-05-30 20:54:03 +0000 UTC]

Both shows were at their best when they were combined.

I liked both, I would have enjoyed the original setup of Grim & Evil had it continued that way.

Ah well, what can ya do?

lovely pic mate qlways loved those two as well .... kinda weird iยดd never draw them

Hehe, some of my favourite shows that's for sure you'd think I'd draw them more

That's brilliant, I love puns like that

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

AmericanGecko [2011-11-30 02:32:05 +0000 UTC]

That was one thing I always disliked about the whole situation with the original show The Adventures of Grim & Evil -- only one of the shows was going to get picked to have a full series to it. Particularly since I loved them both, particularly the Evil Con Carne segments.

Probably one of my favorite Maxwell Atom's pieces was the episode where they think they've found Hector's face and it turns out to be just his teeth.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AtomicTiki In reply to AmericanGecko [2011-11-30 02:49:23 +0000 UTC]

Man I know, I mean they were both great but Evil con Carne only ended up with 2 seasons (15 episodes!)

I would have loved to have seen more... I wonder what Maxwell Atoms is up to these days...

Oh man, that episode! Or the one where they turn gravity off with the parody of Dudley DoRight

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AmericanGecko In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-11-30 03:47:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah! OR the one where Skar met the future versions...though I'm still a little confused how Hector and Ghastly had a son when Hector was still just a brain and stomach and not much else...absolutely classic comedy.

M-102 In reply to AmericanGecko [2013-03-20 15:28:06 +0000 UTC]

And Hector trying to find how they manage to have a son followed by Ghastly's answer.

AmericanGecko In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-11-30 19:37:38 +0000 UTC]

One of many great shows that should be released on DVD and probably never will be. Sadly, Corporate America is only concerned with selling what they think the "majority" will buy. Why, I don't know...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AtomicTiki In reply to AmericanGecko [2011-12-01 01:33:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I stopped trying to figure out Cartoon Network's thought processes.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AmericanGecko In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-12-02 04:40:01 +0000 UTC]

Same here. In fact, I don't understand the thoughts of any of the "Big Three" cartoon channels at the moment. (Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney) If you ask me, all three need to take a good strong look at what got them to where they are, and return to their roots a bit.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AtomicTiki In reply to AmericanGecko [2011-12-02 04:50:46 +0000 UTC]

I'll tell you what got them to where they were; Creator-driven content. Not 30 minute toy commercials, not cookie cutter superhero crap, actual ENTERTAINMENT.

TV animation has fallen back into the dark ages again, forgetting all the lessons learnt from the 80s, fought for in the 90s.

I really do despair sometimes.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

AmericanGecko In reply to AtomicTiki [2011-12-26 22:37:45 +0000 UTC]

That I will DEFINITELY agree with. It seems lately that unless a show comes with a "successful" toy line, the network won't carry it very long. To me, that spits on the lessons learned in the 90's, when a show got a toy line only if it was successful.

Ironically, it seems that the networks are bringing back a lot of the shows from them as remakes (i.e. G.I.Joe: Renegades, the new Thundercats, etc.)

I don't despair so much as I ask this: if this is really the "great future of cartoons" that was talked about in the 90's, where will the industry head in the next ten years?
