Description

“Ah…Halloween! …Such a playful night of the year. The children are all out in cute costumes asking for treats and delights. Some teenagers are at their little parties or causing all sorts of mischief. Also, the grown-ups are staying at home or attending parties of their own. Halloween is truly a fun and safe night for everyone….HOW BORING!” Warlord said to her companion as she looked down on the streets of Angel Falls from a large building. The heavy set, pear-shaped woman sneered and ran a gloved hand through her shock of blonde hair.

From within the shadows; a tall, lean, and pale woman exited from the darkness and stood near her new companion. Without saying a word, she simply looked at the Warlord and gave a serious expression.

“Look at all the insects down there…They should be under our control.” Mesmeratrix telepathically said to her new partner.

“I agree…all those resources, manpower, and influence just waiting for our guidance” Warlord replied with a chuckle.

“All that is fine… but when can we get revenge on that metal…?” said Mesmeratrix using her telepathic powers before she was interrupted

“Patience, my friend. Let’s not give our new acquaintance the wrong idea just yet.” Warlord said as she sensed her second companion’s arrival. Both of them turned toward the third meta-human; a rather young, average height, and rebellious-looking woman. Her hair was short but did not have the purple tips that she had seen her with earlier. Warlord had to watch what she said or thought. Although her second partner wasn’t on par with Mesmeratrix and herself, she could still enter their minds should they let their guard down or if she intensely focused her abilities on them.

“Sorry, I’m late, folks. It took some time to duck out on the Doc. Plus I was double-checking our target before we begin.” Rebecca Weller said to her new partners.

“Very good Persuasion. With our help, we will give those establishments that caused you so much grief and discomfort a lesson in providing excellent care. Does everyone remember what to do?” Warlord said with much care in her voice. Both women nodded as they wore an excited expression on their face, eagerly waiting to set their personal agendas in motion.

“Very good…Let’s begin” Warlord said

“Woo hoo! Time for some good, old-fashioned Halloween fun!” Rebecca cheered as approached the exit door leading downward. She stopped briefly at the door. “Hmm… I wonder what Ryu’s up to?” A slight smile appeared on her face before she continued on.

“Yes. Let’s give Angel Falls a night to remember… and another reason to fear mentioning our names.” Warlord telepathically said to Mesmeratrix.

A few hours passed and everything seemed like a peaceful Halloween. As the kids trick-or-treated and the grown-ups partied, General Bardak made is nightly patrol by jumping from rooftop to roof top. He soon stopped on the roof of a near-by rooftop and looked down at the city. Seeing everyone enjoying this holiday, Bardak dared to feel a flicker of relief. Ever since his arrival, every year there was a major incident or meta-human attack that endangered thousands of lives. Although the night was still young, there was always a chance of something going extremely wrong. Unfortunately like clockwork, Bardak’s train of thought was interrupted when he heard multiple explosions a few blocks away from his position. He immediately rushed toward the explosion, hoping there were no casualties and a prank gone wrong. Upon arrival, he landed near a crowd that gathered at the explosion sight.

“EVERYONE…PLEASE GET BACK…A-” Bardak said before he was interrupted when the crowd suddenly turned around and attacked him. More people soon rushed toward the crowd to help subdue the armored General, but Bardak is a hero for a reason. Using some of his might, he pushed and occasionally punched his sudden attackers away from him, despite the crowd clawing and hitting him. Once Bardak made a small clearing, the civilians all rushed at the same time but Bardak jumped high into the air and landed a few meters away from the crowd.

As Bardak got a better look at the crowd, he was shocked to see all of the civilians had soulless eyes with lifeless facial expressions. He knew he had seen such an event before and felt he remembered facing the same event. He raised his head up in shock when he recalled the similar battle and the same opponent he faced many years ago. Without wasting a moment, Bardak readied both his blaster and BTR, and then used the BTR to scan his surroundings.

However, before Bardak had time to get an accurate scan, multiple armored trucks appeared out of nowhere and charged toward the General. Trusting his instincts, Bardak managed to dodge the trucks by long jumping out of the way and retaliated by blasting it. However, even though his attacks were dead on, his blasts phrased through the trucks and moderately damage near-by walls. After taking a moment to scan the trucks, Bardak felt uneasy realizing it was merely a projection of a truck. While he used his BTR to scan for strange energy signatures, more armed civilians gathered near his position and formed an inescapable circle around him. Bardak looked around his surroundings and all he could see was brain-washed civilians on the streets, even on top of buildings, as far as the eye can see. He knew he could easily fight his way out, but innocent people would be hurt. After the scan was complete and he saw the results, he remembering the battle years ago and readied his BTR.

Before he had the chance to perform his attack, all the civilians charged toward the armored General. While trying to buy some time, Bardak fired his blaster at the ground, creating a blinding-bright wall all around him. Although his deceptive maneuver brought him a few seconds, the civilians were undeterred and engulfed the metal General. As more people got within range; they openly beat, punched, strangled, tore, crushed, and even repeatedly shot the armored warrior. Bardak struggled to escape or fight back, but these brain-wash civilians used their increased rage and strength to further torment the future warrior without remorse or restraint.

After a few minutes of fighting, the 3 telepathic women exited from their viewing spot and walked toward the crowd. Upon arrival, the people formed a straight line to the center of the circle with two trails of people kneeling on the ground as a guide. All 3 women couldn’t believe their eyes when they arrived at the center…the great General Bardak beaten and broken. Once they saw their adversary defeated, Warlord motioned her companions to end the charade. Mesmeratrix ordered most of the civilians back to their homes and await further instructions while Rebecca focused her energy to dispel the remaining civilians and armored trucks.

As the General barely managed to open one of his blood-shot eyes, Warlord focused her energy to levitate the broken General. Screams of pain and broken bones filled the air as the General floated a few inches off the ground, slightly exciting Mesmeratrix. Using the last of his strength, Bardak tried to mouth something but his voice couldn’t reach their ears.

“Does the big bad General have something to say?” Warlord asked as she telepathically pulled the General closer them. All 3 girls then slightly leaned forward and remained silent, wanting to hear Bardak’s final words. Bardak then looked at the 3 girls and wore a strange vindictive smile.

“My turn…” he said as he started to disintegrate into a bright light then fade into oblivion. All 3 women were shocked at the General’s sudden disappearing act, until Warlord suddenly picked up his presence. Before any of them could react, a powerful screech that could rival a Banshee cry filled the air around them. All 3 women covered their ears in pain, pathetically trying to muffle the loud noise. As they tried to maintain their focus, a powerful energy shot soon raced down from the sky, causing a small crater followed by a large shock-wave to form on impact. Although the used what energy they muster to shield themselves, the resulting shock-wave causing them to glide back away from each other by a few feet. After taking considerable damage, they suddenly looked up and saw a large metal item being thrown their way. The metal item soon extended his arms and legs and landed near the 3 women with both his weapons at the ready.

“YOU!!! HOW DID YOU SURVIVE?” Warlord yelled as she as well as her companions began to focus their energy

“You can read minds, right? You think you know everything, right? You should already know…” Bardak mockingly said while he remained in his defensive position.

Warlord screamed as she unleashed a volley of energy blasts of the armored General. Bardak held his ground by deflecting the energy shots and retaliating by firing energy shots from his blaster. Warlord quickly focused her power to shield herself from his attacks, but a well-placed shot pierced her defenses and impacted on her stomach. Warlord briefly grasped in pain at his attack and momentarily lowered her defenses.

Bardak tries to seize this moment by lining up a take-down shot but he was interrupted by the bold tackle of both Mesmeratrix and Persuasion. As the girls tried to pull and distract the General, knowing the girls are no match for a physical conflict with the General, Warlord quickly mustered her energy while focusing part of her energy to heal herself.

“MOVE…NOW” she telepathically told her mind sisters as she readied her attack. As if on cue, Mesmeratrix and persuasion rushed away from the armored foe. Soon following Warlord unleashing a small but powerful Ultrablast on the armored General, causing him to glide a few meters back. Although the blast didn’t pierce his armor, Warlord smiled as the blast did what she wanted it to do…knock off the General’s helmet.

While he was still dazed from Warlord’s attack, all 3 girls wasted no time as they used the full potential of their mind powers to bore into the mind of the futuristic warrior. Although Bardak has had extensive training in mental discipline, Bardak fell to one knee in pain while dropping his weapons and covering his ears, desperately trying to shield himself from the onslaught of their attacks. He could feel each women carrying out their agenda while battling within his mind. He could feel Persuasion viewing his memories and creating a nightmarish reality that felt so real, it would never be mistaken as a dream. He could feel Mesmeratrix implanting all the feelings of pain and torment she experienced from their last encounter as if he was being dealt the pain in her place as well as implanting suggestions of surrender and total obedience to her. Meanwhile, he could feel his mental defenses weakening by the second by the Warlord’s mind blasts, intentionally being unleashed in short burst thereby making the General suffer slowly.

As the girls closed in on him, forming a circle but keeping a few feet distance, they increased their telepathic output to finish him for good. Bardak could feel his mind being lost into oblivion, until a random thought crosses his mind for a brief moment. He briefly recalled his battle with Mesmeratrix and what method he used to stop her. Without even thinking and using the last bits of his sanity, Bardak used his right hand to grab his left fore-arm and claw his own armor. The loud screeching noise made by his armor was so intense; all 3 girls stopped their attacks and closed their ears in pain. With the onslaught at a halt and without even wasting a moment to grab his weapons, Bardak quickly rushed toward the girls.

While still trying to make sense of reality, Bardak relied on his warrior instinct to guide him to his foes. Once he got to his first target, using in-human speed; he punched one of the mind sisters on the side of her head, causing her to fly a few feet away from him. After his attack and he was closer to making sense of reality, he dashed toward his second target. Similar to his first attack, he used in-human speed and kicked the second sister at the side of her head, causing her to fly away from his position. Shortly after his attack, Bardak recovered his sense of reality and saw his defeated targets were Mesmeratrix and Persuasion. He then focused on his third target, but was interrupted by energy blasts from Warlord. Bardak quickly dodged the blasts and leaped towards his weapons. Within a split-second Bardak grabbed his sword and deflected an energy blast that would have killed him, if he was without weapons. He then pressed a few buttons on his BTR then got into a defensive stance while Warlord cancelled her attacks and waited.

“Never figured you working with others that are not your stooges, Catherine” Bardak said

“On the contrary my dear General, I can work with others…at least until I get what I want and I always get what I want…though if they get what they want and it doesn’t affect me…then everyone is happy…well…everyone not foolish enough to cross our paths.”

“I know what Mesmeratrix wants, but about Persuasion? She may be immature, but she is not a total deluded psychopath with no mercy, any remorse, or sense of humanity.” Said Bardak

“Oh, flattery will get you so far, love. True, Mesmeratrix wants revenge for what you did to her years ago, but as for Rebecca…she just needed some “persuasion” of her own.” replied Warlord.

“What do you mean? Since she is an empath, she would have sensed your intrusion and fought against you.”

“She may be an empath, but she is barely close to Mesmeratrix level, even less to my own level. What she needed is a reason to rebel…like a few strangers harassing her or a few subtle suggestions placed in her mind to help bring her peace.” said Warlord. Bardak quickly pondered such a scenario then his eyes widen in shock.

“So you brain-washed people to harass and torment her… making her angry with everyone. Meanwhile, with each frustration, Mesmeratrix subtly placed hints to misuse her powers. When she couldn’t take it anymore, Mesmeratrix and you extended you hand in friendship while taking over her mind without her realizing it.” Said Bardak

“Hmm…Smart as you are very handsome, aren't you? You figured out everything that happened. Now that she is under my power and Mesmeratrix at my side, people will cover in fear at the mere mention of my name.” Catherine said playfully

“Your delusion ends here…” Bardak said with a serious expression

“Maybe you haven’t been listening, Bardak…I ALWAYS GET WHAT I WANT!” Warlord said as she saw her sisters slowly standing up and getting ready to attack. Wanting to further distract Bardak, Warlord levitated in the air and prepared to fire multiple energy blasts. Bardak quickly aimed his blaster but before he could shoot, Rebecca dashed forward to outflank him then pivoted her foot and roadhouse kick his blaster away from Warlord. Meanwhile using what little energy she could spare, Catherine levitated Mesmeratrix a few inches in the air. Wasting no time, she tried to bore into Bardak’s mind, hoping to at least stun him while Warlord finishes him off.

Once fully charged, Warlord unleashed three strong energy blasts which caused Bardak to be moved back a few feet on impact. Within a few seconds, a strong Ultrablast was fired at the armored General but he fought through the earlier blasts and ducked from the final attack. The Ultrablast zipped across Bardak but wound up strafing Mesmeratrix. As she grasped herself in pain, Bardak quickly regained his posture and rapidly fired multiple shots at both Warlord and Persuasion. The sudden concussion blasts soon rendered Rebecca unconscious but Warlord was struggling to stay in the fight. As Warlord struggled just to stand, Bardak took no chances as he dashed toward her. Using some of his might, he punched her squarely in the neck. The impact from his attack slammed her into a near-by wall. While gasping for air, she tried to focus her energy into her hand but Bardak quickly grabbed and crushed her glowing hand while he placed his right hand around her neck.

“It’s over, Catherine.” Bardak said with determination in his eyes. Meanwhile, Mesmeratrix mustered the last of her strength and bore into the General’s mind. Without the mind sisters to help her, Bardak held his ground, ready for her. However, Warlord soon joined but instead of trying to take over his mind, she used her power to levitate a near-by car and hurl it towards Persuasion.

Without hesitation, Bardak blasted the car into multiple pieces then quickly shielded Rebecca by covering both of them with his cape. After a minute had passed, Bardak unfurled his cape and was surprised to see that neither Warlord nor Mesmeratrix were to be seen. He quickly got out his BTR and scanned his surroundings. Much to his chagrin, there was no trace of Mesmeratrix or Warlord in the vicinity. Angrily, he donned his helmet for added protection then turned towards the downed Rebecca. He accessed his particle regenerator and healed the injuries he had caused her. Rebecca regained consciousness immediately afterwards and looked up surprisingly at the person in front of her.

“G-General Bardak? What are you doing here? Where are we?” Rebecca inquired confusingly. Bardak slowly removed his hand from the blaster, seeing that she was no longer under the influence of the other telepaths. He took a few minutes to explain what had happened: the battle, the plot to destroy him, and he had even recorded the conversation between Warlord and himself courtesy of his BTR.

“THOSE SKANKS! WHEN I GET A HOLD OF THEM, I’M GONNA…” Rebecca roared but was interrupted by Bardak.

“They’re gone for now… but they will be back… and we will be ready” Bardak said with much confidence.

“Still… if I ever run across them again, there’ll be hell to pay… and not just from me!” Rebecca shook her trying to clear the rest of the cobwebs from her mind. “So that’s what it’s like to have someone rooting around your noggin. Can’t say that I like it.” She looked up at the General with sincerity in her eyes. “Hey… I’m uh… sorry if I hurt you or did any damage to anyone else. By the way, I somewhat remembered you disappearing from all of us and reappearing later. How did you do that?” Rebecca looked as though she was going to say something more but was interrupt once again.

“It’s okay, Persuasion. You were possessed by them and couldn’t control your own actions. The only thing we can do right now is take precautionary measures so that neither of them will enter our minds again without our consent. As for my disappearing act, when that illusion crowd tried to attack me, I fired a blinding attack toward the ground and circled it around me. While no one could see me for a few moments, I used my BTR to teleport myself to safety while leaving a holographic version of myself behind. Once I saw all 3 of you exit your hiding place, I jumped high into the air to avoid detection, and then fired a powerful blast to disorient and separate you.” Bardak said as they walked back to the Guardian headquarters.

Rebecca mumbled to herself, “It will not happen again! The doc has…” she stopped herself as she realized that the General might’ve heard her. She quickly turned towards him placing both hands on shoulders and gave him a kiss.

Bardak was not sure how to react but kept his arms away from her.

“Such a modest, intelligent… and very handsome man. I see now why the doc speaks very highly of you.” She broke the embrace and turned quickly while walking with a sexy sashay.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town in a secret hideout, hundreds of mind-controlled servants were tending to both Mesmeratrix and Warlord’s wounds. While their wounds were being treated, other mind slaves were performing other tasks such as: massaging their limbs, repairing their clothes, cooking their meals, cleaning their hideout, and especially researching data on multiple computers. One of the mind slaves soon rushed towards his mistresses and presented them with a small but detailed report. Warlord wore a vindictive grin across her face while Mesmeratrix repeated her actions upon telepathically hearing the information from the data report. As Warlord continued to read the detailed report, she started to think about her recent worst opponent, General Bardak. She quietly chuckled at the thought of even though she had lost this battle and thanks to the information she recently obtained…their war was just beginning.

I figured that when I reviewed her bio...I'm just surprised the doctor has a "personal" interest in my General. Is she and/or Rebecca after my General's mind or "something else"?

Thanks again for editing this story and letting me use your character.

You're most welcome.  The good doctor is always interested in the good mental and physical health of all of the Guardians.

As far as Sheila's interest in the General...  Dr. Hauptmann  Let's just say that everything about him interests me.

I'm flexible... I can do it however you wish.  I've done it as a straight interview or in a flashback manner or inside the person's mind in a situation.  It really only depends on what you wish to have revealed about your character either inner or outer perception.
