I see, that's good.
I personally use Inkscape for my wallpapers, but do use Illustator for other stuff.
The way the pen tool works in Inkscape I find easier to use, just a personal preference though.

I'd stick with what you know, Illustrator is a more superior program, but for these wallpapers Inkscape it generally good enough.
But yeah, I'd say to stick with Illustrator.
