I have a heatgun that I use for cosplay. Not as a prop, mind you, but to shape rubber foam to make props. You cut rubber foam in the shape you want, bend it with your hands, zap it with the heatgun, and it will retain it's new shape. Basically what happens is that, when you bend rubber foam, small wrinkles appear in the surface. With the heatgun these wrinkles fuse together, so it keeps the new shape.
That's the basis for the core in these ears. Inside the fur there's a shaped core of rubber foam, so these ears keep their kittyful shape even after you bend them. And not only are they veeeeeeeeeeery soft and fuzzy to the touch, you can squeeze and bend them and they'll always return to their original form.
