I myself have been trying to learn how to draw on my own these past few months, except I haven't been very successful in doing so.

It takes years of practice and a lot of patience. One of the first steps to try is taking an image and attempting to redraw it, like making a photocopy with you pencil. It helps you learn the anatomy and structure of hwo the characters move and look and eventually that skill will transfer over onto your own work.

About 15 different overlay, luminosity, screen, and multiply layers in order to obtain the glowing effects. The image itself has more layers than I wish to count. o.e

This is great, and your art is already improving.
I think you need an accomplice in this project. Someone who you send your pages to and they clean them up. Like fixing simple shading and coloring errors.
I would offer, but I'm terribly unreliable. XD And I've got too many of my own projects going right now.

I'm glad you think it's improving. I've been fiddling with it bit by bit and I'm noticing the color jobs are waaay more complicated than they used to be. A good example is to look at C.W. from the intro and first page to where he is now. o-o;
