Hello everyone -- this is the first painting I've posted in a while. I've been really busy with university and such. But I've been home these past few days due to a nasty fall (7 stitches in my face...) and thought I'd finish this painting.I started it around Christmas but never got around to it after that. Figured since I can't do much else, I'd paint. This painting reflects my recent excitement over Japanese culture (I realize this painting may look Chinese... but w.e.). I will be starting the language in my next fall semester (!!).

Very beautiful work! I really love how the waterfalls came out and the cherry trees in bloom across the landscape add a nice touch of spring. I agree that the painting reminds me more of Chinese traditional style than Japanese, but the little torii in the bottom right is pretty Japanese, in itself. Plus, Japanese traditional painting originated in China, so it's ok X3
