There's a certain sweetness to silence.

The room you situated yourself in wasn't entirely quiet. Izaya was humming, fingers hitting his keyboard at an inhumane speed; a grin spread on his pale face. You can't help but stare in awe. For all the times you question his self proclaimed godlike status, you wonder if there's merit to his words.

Despite the devilish actions he was partaking in, he had such a childlike enthusiasm to everything. The clock ticked on, minutes passing like the blink of an eye. You eventually look away, realizing you had stared at Izaya for an embarrassingly long time.

'As long as he didn't notice.' you silently plead. Knowing Izaya, he definitely knew. He could be preoccupied typing on two different monitors, and still manage to keep an eye on you. How one man could be capable of multitasking to such a degree is beyond you.

Eventually, Izaya scoots back on his chair, closing his eyes.

"You're not sneaky, you know?" Izaya's voice carries weight, even in lighthearted comments. He opens his eyes, mirth evident in his expression. Elevated eyebrows, lips curled in that eternal grin.

"I wasn't trying to be," you respond, ignoring your reddening cheeks. "You'd notice no matter who was looking at you."

"Not always."

He gets up, and begins to meander over to you. His trademark jacket is missing, but he's still wearing the same black v neck as always. You can't help but bite your lip in excitement as he draws closer, hands curling at your side.

"You made me wait." you whisper, barely able to meet his overwhelming gaze. He doesn't give much of a reaction, other than a barely audible chuckle.

"You've never complained about that before," he sits down next to you. Incredibly close. Finally, you lift your head, looking eye to eye with him. He never wastes a moment.

"Maybe I'll just leave next time." you purse your lips, hoping to get a reaction out of him. Instead, you're met with the same expression as always.

"I don't think you will."

You realize that this'll get you no where.

"Izaya," you whisper, your voice barely audible. He tilts his head, and waits for you to finish.
"For making me wait so long, you should make it up to me."

"Is that why you've been so patient with me?" he laughs. He shakes his head, finally looking away from you. "Humans are too much fun."

"What do you have in mind, [First]?"

"Well..." Trailing off, you move your hand to his thigh. He still doesn't react in the slightest, irking you. Moving your face closer to his, and closing your eyes; you place a hand on his chest.

"You could go back to chatting with yourself."

Leaning back, you break out your phone. Looking through the corner of your eye, you see him twitch slightly. Finally, something. Some proof that the person next to you was actually human.

He pouts.

"You're too cruel, [First]-chan."
