Description Finally. This has been lying around my WIP folder for a while and I finally brought myself to finish it.
A lot of work came into the making of this piece. I'd like for you all to take the time to watch it in full view in order to appreciate all the texturing and lighting that came into it.
This was made partly in order to impress my art teachers. I included all my knowledge of Photoshop and picture composition into this. A lot of matte painting is present in this.

I wanted to depict what was to me, one of the most intense Resident Evil moments. In RE2 in particular, when your character got hurt, they would imediatly give sights of it with a change of posture and gait. And when they were very close to death, the had a terrible limp. Running for your life wouldn't have been nearly as scary as it is without this detail.

The scene I wanted to represent was that moment when you realise you're fucked and that there's nothing you can do. In this case, poor Leon, injured, leaning against a wall with an empty handgun while a hoard of zombies closes in.
I've learned in school all the ways you can make a picture stressful, scary, unnerving and give it a sense of urgency. A scene like this should be anything but peaceful. This is the reason I chose a vertical format, which communicated more agitation than a landscape one, why I included a lot of diagonals in Leon's postures (diagonals communicate a lot of agitation too) why there is a predominance for agressive colors such as red, why the lighting and the subtle shadow of the zombies on the wall give a lot of power to the off-screen (a technique frequently used in horror movies to make you scared of what you can't see) and the lines on the wall, which leads the eye to Leon like he's a target and at the same time, make him seem very small.

I would love to have your thoughts and constructive criticism on this. Thanks!
