Description
The dark energy of the Emeralds is brought out by the ray, transforming Sonic into a monstrous wolf like hedgehog form of himself and rendering the Chaos Emeralds gray and powerless.

Dr. Eggman: “Success! A brilliant success! It's just as the Gaia Manuscripts foretold! The entity that was sealed within the planet has awakened. Now I just need to harness its power. EggmanLand will finally come to be!”

Sonic the Werehog: “You've really... gone and done it this time, Eggman.”

Dr. Eggman: “Ahh, Sonic. That's a good look for you. Festive! So long, friend!”

Eggman then opens an airlock which sucks Sonic and the drained Emeralds out into space and down to Earth.
