Jordan sat idly at her desk, staring at the screen of her laptop. The only sound present was the constant clicking of the mouse as she navigated from page to page. All was calm.

Much, much too calm.

"Okay, that's it!" yelled the man laying nearby on her bed. "I am SO freakin' bored!"

"Likewise," mumbled the man sitting next to the first.

Jordan turned around and glared at the two men. "And what do you expect me to do about it? Entertain you? If anything, you guys should be the ones entertaining me. It's my goddamn birthday."

"Which is exactly why I'm trying to figure out why we're just sitting here," the second said, obviously annoyed. "Aren't you supposed to go out and do things on your birthday?"

Rolling her eyes, Jordan turned back to her computer. "I did," she said matter-of-factly. "Remember? I was gone all morning-- and afternoon-- with my mom in town. We only just got back."

"Yeah, but, like, we mean with your friends," the first man emphasized, causing the second to glare at him for his lack of tact.
Jordan still wasn't fazed, though. "If you mean like a party, you know very well that I already had one."

"You mean when you went to Chicago a few days ago with only two of your friends?"

"It was more fun than a party would have been," she murmured. Hearing the slight edge to her voice, the two men backed off a bit.

Sighing, Jordan swiveled back around in her chair. "Listen, guys, I'm sorry. I've just been feeling really out of it ever since that goddamn driving evaluation, and to top that off, I'm- well..."

"Bored," both men finished at the same time.

"Well, yeah," she admitted sheepishly.

The first idiot- er, I mean, man- grinned. "I knew you were just as bored as we were!"

The other man rolled his eyes. "Congratulations, Deimos. You noticed the obvious. Would you like a reward?"

Jordan snickered while Deimos glared at his 'friend.' "I dunno, Sanford. Would that reward happen to be a blowjob?"

Both Jordan and Sanford gaped and began to stutter in shock.

"What the hell, dude?! Are you fuckin'-?!"

"Deimos!" Jordan whined. "Why the hell would you say that?!" She froze suddenly, causing both men to give her a strange look. "Oh God...mental image."

Sanford smacked her in the side of the head. "You dirty little-- get your mind out of the gutter!"

"But it's hard!" she protested. "And why'd you smack me?! Deimos started it!"

"Psh, he's not hittin' me because-"

"He'll be hitting you as soon as you guys get home???"

Sanford's mouth fell open again and he blushed furiously, while Deimos sat in shock, seeming unable to process Jordan's words.

"Wha- what'd your parents-!"

"It wasn't my parents," Jordan cheered happily. "It was the Internet!"

Deimos just shook his head. "Can anyone remember how we got onto this subject...?"

"Er-"

"Actually, yes! I was sitting here, and you guys got bored and started to harass me, then you (here she pointed at Deimos) made a dirty joke, then I made one, then you guys freaked out, and here we are!" Jordan smiled, obviously proud at herself for remembering everything.

Both men blinked and just shook their heads. "I guess that's what we get for trying to be helpful..." Sanford mused.

Jordan scowled. "Helpful how? Do tell," she drawled sarcastically.

Deimos rolled his eyes. "Isn't it obvious? What sane person wouldn't be upset that their friends didn't bug them on their birthday?"

Jordan stared. "But, I chose to stay home from school today. I knew I wouldn't see anybody."

"And I suppose you knew that nobody would call, too," Sanford said.

Her face flushed and she turned away. "Or even send me a message on Facebook," she whispered sadly.

Deimos glared at his partner, who raised his hands defensively and mouthed "it's your fault too." Deimos rolled his eyes but shrugged in acknowledgement. Both turned to the saddened girl and stared helplessly, unsure of what to do.

The laptop suddenly gave a beep. Everyone jumped a little, then laughed awkwardly at themselves. Jordan walked over and sat down at her computer. She clicked the mouse a few times, then grinned.

"I guess I wasn't completely forgotten," she commented happily.

Peeking over her shoulder, Sanford and Deimos saw what had cheered her up. Several "Happy Birthday" messages had been posted on her Facebook wall. None of them were names that the two recognized, though.

"It's always the friends you don't really know that cheer you up when you're feeling lonely," Jordan said thoughtfully, a smile still on her face.

"Don't forget the fictional characters that you shouldn't actually be able to talk to," Deimos added.

"Be quiet! You make me sound like an obsessive freak when you say stuff like that," Jordan complained, sticking her tongue out childishly.

"You ARE an obsessive freak," Sanford pointed out.

"That's not the point."

And it wasn't.

So in the end, Jordan wasn't forgotten. Sanford and Deimos were entertained for almost five whole minutes. And Jordan realized-
