So, like the title says it is a marriage gift Auderien got from Rivig just like he gave Rivig his own gift.
In my Au, people exchange their dearest possessions to show their lowers that they care about them more than even their personal treasure.

This is a scythe that was in Higgendim family something like a... Let's say old family relic. Since Rivig's parents were murdered and his sisters got kidnapped (Rivig thought they died as well) the relic became his and he made sure that his favorite memories stayed safely hidden with the scythe. Meaning buried under their little house.

The scythe, along the one Maoberki has, is one of the biggest scythes that were made. Comparing to Auderien it might look small, but he's just a big ass guy.

As far as Rivig knows, the blade of the scythe was made out of rare crystals that can be easily mistaken for simple ice shards. Especially if the crystals are only found in Ice plains in ice under a river. The only way to find them is to melt the ice to see if there is any crystal in the ice.
The second material is an obsidian that was turned to liquid and then immediately frozen. So while the blade was covered in the melted obsidian, it stayed on the blade once it was frozen back to the blade.

Only mortals that were able to turn obsidian to molten mass or even liquid were very well trained fire mages that are really rare nowdays.
